Nancy White is my Great Grand Aunt, daughter of my great grandfather, Martin VanBuren White.

Apparently, Nancy and James were married in Norfolk County, Virginia and got their license to wed on 20 Dec 1893.

Nancy passed away on 18 May 1898 and was buried in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, New Hope, Perquimans County, NC.

I would like to exchange imformation on James and his family.

On the 1880 census, there is an Artemesia Umphlett whom I believe to be Armesia. She is listed as being single with one child. Parthema Umphlett age 6

She also went by Maggie. She would have been my grandfathers sister. My Daniel married C. Elizabeth Lowe (also know as Betty or Bettie) in 1866 and he died in 1877 according to a family tree given to me from my Mom. I haven't confirmed those dates yet. Their daughter Susan Virginia Umphlett is my great grandmother.

Mary,

If you look closely at the entry in the 1850 census I think you will see that Daniel's father's name was "Lewis" not "Isaac" and his mother's name was "Mima", short for "Demima". Lewis Umphlet married Demima Green in Gates County, NC on December 26, 1820.

Walter,

If you can give a bit of information on which Umphlett line your grandmother was from it would be easier to advise you. Perhaps you could start at William born in Barbados and show generation to generation down to Mabel. I think we might have someting for you then.

Hello, my name is Walter Parker. I'm related to the Umphletts through my grandmother on my dads side of the family. Her name was Mable Carolyne Umphlett and her line goes back to William Umphlett born in Barbados 1645. I'm trying to find any information on Mable that there might be, and I can't seem to find anything further back than William of 1645. I would be greatly honored with any information that you might have on them. Thank you
