Hello, I am researching the Umbarger Family fr. Wythe co, VA. Sev. families left Wythe Co. after Civil War. They went to Cedar & Dade co., Missouri. A lot of the settlers stayed there. Margaret Umbarger marr. Rufus Felty, their line is still there.bur. in cemeteries there. James Felty, his 4 sons & part of the Umbarger family traveled further & ended up in Hunt, Fannin, & ne TX. There are still Felty's in Hunt Co. And I have found sev. Umbargers on later census & some are still there today. I am researching mainly the Felty, but just know that the Umbargers intermarried w/them & that they walked to TX fr. MO in late 1860's.

Hi Donna,
I am not sure if you are still doing research on Senna A. Castle Umbarger.... Have you been able to find any information on her? Do you know where she is buried? Or if she was Cherokee?
I would love any information, pictures on her and Stephen G.
They were my Great Grandparents
Thanks
Jennifer

Hello,

I'm working on this same family line, and was wondering if anyone has any updated information regarding the parents of Jonas Umbarger (1822-1899)? I am a direct descendant of Jonas.

I noticed the thread has not been active for many years, and was hoping that something new has been discovered in the interim.

Sincerely,
Mark

Bonnie! I can help you on this fact!
S.g. Umbarger was the first settler and leased the first section of land there. "Umbarger" was half way between Amarillo and Dimmitt.he moved his family from canyon to his ranch in 1891. S.G. Built a wagon yard with sheds where travelers (usually cowboys taking cattle to Amarillo) could gets parts, exchange horses and so on. His first wife, sena a umbarger died in 1899. He married his second wife Annie mcbee. Unknown reasons, he sold all his land in 1900 to r.e. muncy and moved back to canyon where he died July 17 1903. I have more history for you if you would like it. I will try to find the link and post it here. I hope this helps!
