Do you have a Caspar or Nicolaus Umbach in your ancestor list? They would be very interesting for me. They came to St. Louis about 1850.

Hi Lisa,
the name Ubach comes from Germany. Umbach has been a very small town and was desturbed in the middle age. In that time everybody had to choose a last name and the surviving citicens of Umbach used this name as theres. Umbach has been located between Kassel and Lohfelden. That is in the north of Hessen. Today we still have a little town named Crumbach which is a part of Lohfelden today. Hope I could help you

in 1860 Gerog Frederick Umbach had two neighbors - Adam Goebel (my g-g-grandfather)and his brother Henry Goebel JR. They lived in German Township, Evansville, Indiana, USA. We were wondering if the Umbach's and the Goebel's immigrated together. We also have heard the Goebel's were from Darmstaedt, also in Hessen, but further to the south. Do you have any information on the Adam Goebel family?
