Not at all! Although, I think you and I are the only ones looking! My great-grandmother was Mary Umathum, born in Austria-Hungary around 1855, and died in Steven's Point, WI in 1933. She married John Grasy in Steven's Point. That's all I know about her! I read your earlier postings so I don't think we are looking for the same Umathum, but you never know!

I don't know if this will help anyone. Someone has kindly helped me with my family tree and I see that an Umathum was a godparent to my great great grandfather. He was a Michael Neuberger and the son of Michael Neuberger and Elizabeth Wachtler. The sponsors of a few Michael and his wife Elizabeth Gareisz's children are Paul Thullner and Maria Umathum. The year is 1848 and is in Szent Peter now Janossomorja. That's all I have but I hope it's some help to someone.

Also, the marriage of Michael Neuberger jr and Elizabeth Gareisz was witnessed by a Joseph Umathum and Janos Lang in 1871 in Szent Janos. I assume Joseph and Maria must be related in some way and somehow maybe related to my line? The godparent's of Michael Sr when he was born in 1848 were Paul Thullner and Maria Umathum. I messed up my first post sorry! I added jr's and sr's because it's easier for me here. Elizabeth Gareisz who married Michael Jr Neuberger was born in 1852 and her godparents were a Paulus Lang and a Maria Thullner. Whew!

Here is a new interest in the Umathum family name. My father's family, immigrated to the US about the turn of the century. They spelled it Umatum. My grandfather was Michael Umatum, his wife was Antonia Frank. They settled in Minnesota, in Hennipen County, Minneapolis City. I found them in the 1920 Census. I know they were from Austria-Hungary, but have no idea where. I am interested in any records of their immigration I can find. I think my grandfather's 1917 draft card is listed on Ancestry.com, but can't afford the membership so am not sure. I would love to find any family as I have never met them.
