I am descended from Elizabeth Ulp, wife of James Hopewell of Northumberland, PA. Ulp is a very unusual name -- I have seen it spelled Olp too in early records. The obvious candidates to be parents of Elizabeth are Conrad Ulp and his wife Elsie. I believe Conrad's ancestry traces to Sussex County, NJ and there we find Barnet Ulp who is buried in Stillwater, NJ.

I believe all Ulps present in the United States by say 1850 or even later may well be of this family, perhaps descendants of Barnet.
