I am trying to do my husband's family tree with little success. Those living have such bad memories of being Russian Jews sent to Harbin, China and then run out by the Japanese in the late '30s that we can't get much first hand because they don't talk about it.
I know my husband's mother's name was Lubov Ulanovsky when she came to California just before the Japanese invasion. She has no information as to what happened to her father. Her mother, Esther Gasinsky Ulanovsky, came to California about 30 years later and died in California. Esther's mother's maiden name was Zuskin. That is about all we have on her.
Any help or if you know of a direction I could take to capture a snap shot of her life between Russia and California?
