I believe I also have relative with Ulan as a surname.

I heard they changed it either from or to Ulanofsky.

They were from Belarus.

Adam W. Ulan, was born about 1869/70 in Lithuania, son of William Ulan.
Adam married Eva Lastowka who was born in Lithuania, about 1873. They moved to Danbury, Fairfield, Connecticut, where they lived many years.
Adam, and Eva had three children:
Sophie Ulan, b. 16 May 1900, Portland, Maine
Anna Ulan, b. 1904, English, Canada
William J. Ulan, b. 1908, Danbury, CT., d. 1950

Adam, died in 1951, Eva died 1952
They are buried in St. Peters cemetery in Danbury, CT.
Adam had two brothers, Alexander and Anthony that were born in Lithuania, and died in CT.
The Ulan Family sometimes would put on census that they were born Russia-Poland, and on other papers said Lithuania.
It would be nice to know where in Lithuania the Ulan boys were born.
Eva Lastowka, came to America with two sisters, Antonia Lastowka, b. about 1879, Helen "Nellie" Lastowka, b. about 1880. Antonia married Stephen Orpel, who was b.c1879, Poland.
Nellie married John Waithwich, born about 1880 in Lithuania.
Antonia and Nellie lived in Lawrence, Essex, MA, and found living next door to each other in the 1930 census.

I recently came across an 02/2004 posting regarding the Adam and Eva Ulan family of Danbury, Connecticut. I believe I may be related to that family. Does anyone have any further information about their daughter, Sophie Ulan, b 16 May 1900, or their son, William J. Ulan, b. 1908, d. 1950? Thank you.

Yes, you can help by sharing and posting some of your info and Ulan interest here on this board.
I have many more obits from the Ulan family.
Need to know where you fit into the maze and puzzle.
Eva Ulan had sisters, Helen and Antonia.
They came from Lithuania, sometimes said Poland or Russia/Germany. Both their husbands, John and Stephan came from Russia/Poland/Germany/Lithuania.
Helen was nicknamed "Nellie", they both had two daughters.
Stephan, married Antonia and was a cousin to Adam Ulan.

There also was:
Sophie Ulan, b. 1897, d. 1972, New Britain, CT
Michael Ulan, b. 1893, d. 1969, New Britan, CT

Adam Ulan, also had brothers.

I am a daughter of Sophie Ulan and Charles Hummel. I have known for some time that there have been things about my family that I was never told. I have recently obtained information that leads me to believe that I have at least one half sister from my mother's earlier marriage to a man by the family name of Nasik?/Ninski?/Naske? but I have never been provided any details of this so I would like to determine if this is true. For medical purposes, I would also like to find out what I can about the brothers (Anthony Ulan and Alexander Ulan) of my mother's father, Adam Ulan. The little bit of information I have been able to obtain leads me to believe that they both died somewhere in Connecticut and that they may have been institutionalized at the time of their deaths. Finally, I note mention of a Michael Ulan, b. 1893, d. 1969 in New Britain, CT, but I know nothing about this person so I would appreciate any further information on this person that you can provide. My deepest thanks you for your ongoing input and assistance.

Anthony and Alexander Ulan
