I am five generations removed from my great-great-great grandfather, Wilhelm Johann Heinrich Uhde, watchmaker, born Goslar, Germany 23 Jan, 1820. He migrated to the USA in 1854. He had married a widow named Charlotte Wanda (nee Steinmetz) Willmaser who had two children. Together they had three more. Hermann H. was the only Uhde to carry the name. His baby sister, Carolina Wilhelmina Henrietta married and became my ancestor. Hermann had one son Herman H., JR. and a daughter. Though I know it unlikely we are related, I have to ask. Both Hermanns were watchmaker-jewlers and propietors of Wm. Uhde & Son Davenport, Iowa. Herman died 12 June, 1922, leaving Herman Jr. and Mrs. C.F. Brower. Also, mentioned in the obit. were sisters Mrs. T. Forrester of Oakland, CA and Mrs. C. von Egert of Los Angeles.
I have yet to trace Herman Jr. since he is not my direct ancestor.
