Uffner possibly Offner?Any info welcome!!
I am looking for any info on Joseph J Uffner. Born in the US. birthday March 10 not sure of the year. My grandfather said he believes the spelling was not always Uffner..it may have been Offner, Ofner or a variation of that. He was married to a Mary Clara Lance..born in Hungary10-23-1906. Any info would be appreciated.

Do you know which part of the U.S. Joseph was born or lived as a adult? Looking for Offners that left Germany in middle or late 1880's to Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) area. Please respond. Not too many Offner's on message board or in Europe now. Our Offner's were Catholic.

my grandfather is Daniel Uffner. His father was Joseph Uffner born in the USA March for sure but we aren't sure of the date. My grandpa thinks it was the 10th. I do not know to much about Joseph because my grandpa couldn't remember his parents name..but any other info could help us both. My grandpa (and our family for that matter) is Catholic so I would imagine his parents were also Catholic. Thanks for the reply and please respond with any other info..Uffner is not a common name!

I am one of a large group of uffners, mostly based in the Greater New York area and had a now-deceased uncle who was Joseph Uffner. We may just be another branch of the family since we are all Jewish of recent Polish ancestry, having come to the United States after WWII.

Hi - I don't know if the 2 families are related - the Joseph Uffner that is related to me was born in Poland between 1911-1917 in Czestochova and spent the war years in Buchenwald concentration camp before emigrating to the U.S. He died about 4-5 years ago of cancer, had 2 children and 5 grandchildren, all of whom live in the greater NY area....but all his ancestors as far as we can figure were Jewish.

Uffner - Offner, Joseph James
Hi - Where were Joseph James' parents from? I am looking for an Offner family originally from Alsace, Germany. First thought to be Oberotterbach, but turned out to be Oberlauterbach in Alsace. Names are Jacob and Magadalen and son Albert and wife Mary. Found them on the census of Armstrong Co., Brady's Bend, Pa. in 1880 - 1900, then lost them. Any info. you might have would be appreciated. Seems like a lost cause after twelve years of hunting. Our Offner's were Catholic, at least when my husband's grandmother married in Sharpsburg, Pa. She is also the daughter of above mentioned Jacob and Magadalen. Thank you. Please respond. The brother Albert married a Mary C. according to the census in 1900.

Re: Uffner possibly Offner?Any info welcome!!
Je sais qu'aux USA le nom est plus répandu qu'en Europe. cordiallement J.Uffner I am not, alas, the one that you look after But he/it seems interesting to me to make know me My father, David Uffner, emigrated from Poland in the beginning of the last century for Belgium. I am, he/it seems, the only Uffner in Europe to the exeption of my sister and my two girls. I know that to the USA the name is spilled more than in Europe. Fiendly Joe Uffner Sorry my english is verry bad
