I would appreciate hearing and trading information on any Uffelman's from Russia. Known family line stems from Hussenbach.

It doesn't look like anyone from my family has responded to your querry. My aunt is Sheryl Uffelman, who responded in the Shannan/Uffelman thread. She gave about all the information we have, so I suggest you review these. My great-grandfather was George Jacob Uffeleman. I believe one brother travelled with him and settled in the East. Another relative, perhaps an uncle, Heinrich Uffelman, may have come with them and been denied entry in the United States for medical reasons. Heinrich may then have settled in South America. This is information I received from another researcher, and I have been unable to verify it. Let me know if you have any questions. I also have information on the Propp family, into which the Uffelmans married.

Teresa,

In starting my search of the Uffelman/Russia family, I found a Heinrich listed in the Ellis Island group of 1907, which says he died at Ellis Island. There is no cemetery listed, so I'm not completely convinced.

A surprising coincidence: Among the 13 immigrants listed as arriving in 1907 were a David, a Lisa, and an Emalie. My nephew, David Uffelman, married Lisa, and named their first daughter Emily.

I received an email in Nov 2000 from a woman who was writing on behalf of a friend. This friend claimed to be a descendent of George Jacob Uffelman, my great-grandfather. I was never able to get any additional information as to how this friend was related, etc., but her email said: "Georgia is trying to trace a great Uncle Heinrich Uffelmann who was denied entry into the US because of an illness and went on to Argentina with his family." At the time, that was the first I'd heard of Heinrich, but I've since found a copy of Ellis Island records on an Ellis Island website (I can't remember the site's name right now). Anyway, I got the impression from those records that because one family member was sick, the entire family was denied entry. Based on the email I received, I assume those Uffelmans who were denied entry went to South America, probably Argentina. I've tried a few times to recontact the person who emailed me on behalf of her friend, but I haven't had any luck. Hopefully some more information will turn up some day.

Was curious as to what you are searching for family history. My family was from Russia, and came over around that time.
