I saw your information about the Ubele family. My great great grandfather was Christian Ubele born 1820 in Wangen, Wurtemberg, Germany. Wangen is near the town of Goppingen. Christian was a merchant Seaman and first came to America through the port of New York in 1838. He was only 17 years old. In 1848 he became a US citizen and settled in the city of Savannah, GA. That is the city where my family is from. I still have many Ubele cousins living in Savannah. Christian was a baker by trade. Both of my grandparents were grandchildren of Christian Ubele. My grandmother was Stella Ubele and my grandfather was Jacob Kraft. The germans in America were very clanish and many times married cousins. My grandmother and grandfather were first cousins. Christian Ubele's father in Wurtemberg was Johan George Ubele. He was born in 1790 and married Mary Geiger. I am sure that we might be distant cousins. Was your family from Wurtemberg? Please let me hear from you. I now live in Charlotte, NC, USA. I can tell you a lot about the Ubeles in America. Almost all my family on my father and my mother's side came from Germany. I am related to the Krafts, Kilians, Webbers, Deitz, Kleins, Dressons, Ubeles and many other German families. Hope to hear from you.

Lee,

My great-grandfather was named Julius. He was from Kunseltau, Germany. Does that name ring a bell?

I do not know anything about a Julius Ubele being in my father, howeverI would say that all the ubeles that came from Wurtemberg are distantly related.

My great grandparents were William (Wilhelm) and Louise Uebele who came from Germany and lived in Kitchener. Their daughter, Louise, was my grandmother. Here is a picture of them with four of their children. I think they had four more after this picture was taken. The people shown are:

Albert Uebele on mother's knee
Carl Uebele standing
Hilda and Georgina Uebele (left to right)
