Your message dated 5/21/12 wasjust received. I would be very interested in contacting your Uncle Lorenz. We are trying to determine the place my grandfather Johann Uebelacker was born in. My original message of1/28/11 had a typigraphical error in it. He died in 1927 not 1827.

We always thought he was born some where in Bavaria, Germany, but recently we were contacted through ancestery and it was suggested he was born in a rural area, near Liezen (Steirmark) Austria. We are now trying to confirm that or find the actual spot, if that is not the case.

He immagrated to the U.S. on 6/22/1880, ten years after Germany became a country, and there is a lot of confusion in birth record information of his children as to where they came from. Some state Austria and others state Germany.

We welcome any help we can get. I would like to call you or you call me at 414-354-4151, ask for Don.

While they won't contain detailed immigration info, there were family death notices published in local German papers for your John and Barbara (Stich) Uebelacker. Multiple notices from multiple papers are also indexed for an Anna and Elisabeth Uebelacker in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).

Indexing Milwaukee's German newspapers continuously since 2007 ...
