The brother of the drandpa of my wife was Hermann Uebel, born Sept.6, 1886 in Samotschin, West-Prussia, Germany (now: Szamocin, Poland. He was married to Maria Uebel, born as Maria Rensing in Lehe (now: Bremerhaven, Germany. They got a daughter Herma Uebel, born in Lehe May 5, 1912.
Hermann was employed as steward before World War I with "Kronprinzessin Cecilie", after the war with "George Washington", sailing between Bremerhaven and New York.
In 1922 he declared his (and his family) address as: 1100 Summit Ave., Jersey City, New Jersey.
Since that time he, his wife and their daughter vanished without trace.
I would be glad if anybody can give some further information.

Hello Eckhard!

I did a quick search on familysearch.org and found the World War II draft registration (1942) for your Herman Uebel, I believe. It lists an address for him in North Bergen, New Jersey.

Best wishes,

Bob Uebel

Hello Bob!
Thanks a lot for your info. You found the a needle in the haystack. Now I know that Herman and his daughter Herma lived 1942 still in N.J.
Now I have to find out what happens with them after 1942. That is my next task.
Thanks again for your help.
Kind regards from Hannover in Germany.
Eckhard
