Robert - I'm interested in your family BECKER connections in Klein Dallentin, Kreis Neustettin [which I found via Pommernkontakte]. I may have distant BECKER family connections there, too. What data do you have ?

I possibly have connections to:
Wilhemine BECKER, Klein Dallentin married Unknown? HARTKE [or HARDTKE?], Dolgen, Kreis Neustettin in 1838. Their daughter was Johanne [Hanne] Auguste HARTKE [HARDTKE?], Dolgen.

Hanne married Wilhelm Gottleib SCHULZ [possibly of Soltnitz, Kreis Neustettin] in Marienthron, Kreis Neustettin 15 July 1864. Their daughter was Hulda Auguste Rosalie SCHULZ - this was my great-grandmother who lived in Hütten.

Hulda married Paul Hugo Eduard BREITZKE - my great-grandfather [Connections with SONNENBERG family].

I'd be interested to hear from you. Please reply to davidal888@hotmail.com.

Thanks
David

My understanding is that uebel has the literal translation of "evil" however it is not currently used as such. When it is used in everyday German, it means "sick" or "ill", such as "mir ist uebel" meaning I am feeling bad.

Hi Will - I am a descendent of George W. Uebel too, whose family came from Nussdorf and I too visited Nussdorf a few years ago. You probably have connections to Bill Shonerd, who my mother (Evelyn [Uebel] Jacobs) communicated with about genealogy. She did extensive research on the Uebel family in Nussdorf and generated a family tree from it. FYI... I'm currently pursuing the DNA approach to genealogy via my mom's brother. I don't expect it to reveal much for our Uebel's (since we already have them back to the late 1600's in Germersheim (which was destroyed in 1674 and prompted their move to Nussdorf), but it will give us the "Haplogroup" which will tell something of ancient origins of the family. - Steve Jacobs

I have been researching my mom's side of the family "Uebel" back to Germany.
