Attention Brian Ubben: My gggrandmother was Anna Walrichs born in Meinersfehn 12/16/1822. She married an Ubben. They had eight children born in Meinersfehn. Her second child was Frucha who married John Giesmann. Their daughter Sena was my grandmother. I have Anna Walrichs Ubben marriage bible with an inscription dated April 22, 1844 from Meiners=Fehn.
There is a Meind H. Ubben b. 1847 in Meinersfehn d.1914 buried at the Kansas line Immanuel Lutheran Church. Some of those Ubbens were distant cousins. You can drop an e-mail if you have questions.

Ben, thank you for responding. It appears that there is definitely a connection. I've been to the Immanuel Lutheran Church several times. All of the Ubben's buried there are my immediate relatives. I'd be interested in finding out how far you've researched. I'm hoping to go to Germany soon to explore roots. Sincerely, Brian Ubben

Brian, I have Frauke Anna Ubben's baptismal and confrimation documents from the church in Remels. She was baptized by Rev. Fisher on 9/26/1860 and confirmed by Rev.Lamberti on 2/21/1875. Also The name Ubbe Meiners Ubben appears on a Familien Chronik page this is probably her father. I don't read german very well! Frauke was married in 1881 to John Giesmann and in 1882 they came to the USA and lived in Lafayette Indiana. In 1883 they came to Nemaha Co. NE. In 1887 they moved to Johnson Co. where they bought a farm and later retired in Sterling, NE. Hope this helps you. If you can read german you can probably get more information from these documents.

My parents are from the Marysvill, Kansas, area, we still travel up ther every August for a "Milo Festiville". I have seen many of the old homes and farms the Ubbens occupied.

I believe my father has information on Ubbens in Iowa, I know he speaks to relatives up there from time to time.

Looking forward to a response, I notice I am about three months past the last posting of information

Hi Ben,
Lost contact for a bit...I just now read your message regarding the documents that you have. I would like to see them if possible. The Saathoff reunion at the stateline church was good. Loren (my older brother) and I attended. Everyone is always so nice and gracious. The older ones are a wealth of knowledge and info. Talk to you soon. Brian

Hey Brian,

Great to hear from you. We had a wonderful time camping in the Northwest with the kids and grandkids. It would have been fun to attend the reunion but its hard to be two places at once.
We need to get together. I would like to share the items my grandfather and grandmother saved. Organ from the 1880's, marriage bible(dated 1844), German documents, and a few pictures.
If you would like to stop by our place we could go to the local resturant for lunch or dinner and then look at what I have. Maybe we could meet in Lincoln, its up to you. Give me a call or send a message.
