I have heard that one of my ancestors was aboard the Mayflower. Does anyone know how to trace the lineage-- or knows who it is.
thanks.

You might wan't to search for the signatures on the mayflower compact, I heard that a Tyzzer signed it.

I just ck'd. what claims to be the complete list of Mayflowers passengers, and there were no Tyzzers. Sorry. I am Tyzzer descendent, too. I read that if everyone who thought an ancestor came over on the Mayflower was correct, that poor ship would have been the size of two QEll's. LOL ! ! It was worth a shot, though!

Hi LuAnne,

The Mayflower part of your family was from your grandmother's side of the family (Scott's/ Tapley) It would have not been your Tyzzer side as they did not come over until the mid-1800. Other Tyzzer families had come over a bit prior to that however.

Although this is a rather old post I thought I would reply so other Tyzzer family members can benefit. The information in the previous post is correct. The Tyzzer family did not come over on the Mayflower. However, one branch of the Tyzzer family has an ancestor that did. The lineage is traced from Steven Hopkins thru his daughter and continued up to and thru until 1950 when Virgina Tapley Scott married Howard Josiah Tyzzer Jr and started a family. (I am Howard Josiah Tyzzer III)

Stephen Hopkins (He is on the Mayflower roster) was not a pilgrim in the fullest sense of the word and had visited the “new world” before the mayflower trip however he did settle down at the colony at Plymouth with his second wife and children. He was a merchant,an ambassador to the local Indian tribes and was known to be quite a partier (which got him in trouble a few times). He was good friends with Myles Standish. He was a signer of the Mayflower Compact. There is much written about Hopkins and can be found easily via a web search.

Hi Jason,

I don't know if you ever saw my reply back in regard to "Tyzzers" on the Mayflower. There were no Tyzzer's on the Mayflower. However Stephen Hopkins was on the Mayflower and he is an ancestor on your Grandma Tyzzer (Scott) side of the family. This can be definitely be traced back to Stephen’s daughter Constance Hopkins, who married Nicolas Snow. They had 12 Children. I plan on putting more data about that on here later. However you may want to look at a document that Nathaniel Tapley did for his wife as he has basically the same lineage up to a point. He is a distant cousin of yours who’s family moved back to England. You Dad has a copy of the document. But this site is about Tyzzer’s so maybe we should start a new thread… 
