Hi Kathie,
Am researching for friend her mother's family, she was Agnes Tyzzer b. 1918 Detroit, MI [md Bruce Dickie of MI] and her father was Ernest David Tyzzer b. 26 Oct 1883 St.Austell,Cornwall, ENG and md a Gladys M. Unk in MI. On passenger lists found Ernest listing nearest relative as R.L. Tyzzer in St. Austell and further digging linked Ernest to a Richard Tyzzer 1843 St.Austell and wife Elizabeth with 11 children. Could this
R. L. Tyzzer be your GG Grandfather ? Would love to know am on right track. Thanks, Becky

Hi Becky: sure looks like your R.L. Tyzzer could be my GG Grandfather. I don't have that info. Maybe my genealogist cousin does. My G Grandfather was Richard Tyzzer, of St. Austell. He was married to Elizabeth Walcott; they had 10 children, but later than 1843, as my Gram Maggie Tyzzer Toy was born 1878. I think she was in the middle of the 10 kids. She did have a brother Ernest. I do know that some of our Tyzzers went to MI to do mining. So..R.L. Tyzzer (1843) could be the previous generation. Please keep in touch and do let me know if your friend is one of my cousins! :-) I'd love to chat/e-mail with her.

Hi Kathie,
When I searched family trees on Ancestry found a David Ernest Tyzzer linked to a Richard Tyzer b.c.1843 St. Austell and wife Elizabeth Jane Tyzzer b.c. 1844 Cornwall.
Wasn't till found Ernest's draft registration where it gave his full name as David Ernest Tyzzer that I figured had the right father [Richard]. This tree lists 11 children: Clara Jane c1866, Annice c.1868, Rosina c1870 & Rosenin 1870 [dup?], Henry c1872, Arthur 1875, Richard Francis c1876,Maggie c1879, Elizabeth Beatrice c1882, David Ernest c1884 & Lilian Ruth c1887, all b. St. Austell. The tree is
entitled Thomas Minnaar's Family Tree and if you put in Richard Tyzzer b.abt 1843 Cornwall England you can see it. The only other tree I found only lists a Richard Tyzzer & wife Jane and daughters Clara J. Eliza Ann & Rosena.
Think you misunderstood abt the 1843 date, which is Ernest's father dob. Seems like this is your Gram Maggie's family as he lists her dob as abt 1879.
Could you pass my info onto your cousin ? My friend knows hardly nothing pass her mother's parents. I'm giving her
a printout of what I've found as she is going to be with
family next week and maybe older relatives might remember somthing. Don't know if she has email. Your grandmother Maggie & her grandfather Ernest would be brother & sister so ya'll would be 2nd cousins. She was b. 1952 in Detroit.
You mentioned other Tyzzers went to MI, do you know who they were and if you do, let me know. Here's my email: famhntr@windstream.net. Be glad to share her family once
I get all the living relatives from her. Becky

Hi Becky: yes!! this is the correct info. I was confused w/the 1843 date. I know the names of my Gram Maggie's siblings. Rosina is listed twice in error. Lillian died age 3: diphtheria. I haven't joined Ancestry.com yet; may have to! I looked at Thom. Minnaar's brief info.;saw he was in So.Africa. 2 Tyzzer men (Maggie's bros.) went to SO. Africa to mine, so that must be the relationship. Maggie told us we had relatives in So. Africa. Cornish folk also went to MI, and WI, esp. to Mineral Point,a restored mining town I visited a few yrs. ago. (Cornish miners were know the world over as the best deep ore miners!) Sorry..I digress. I will forward your info. to my cousin in Ca, (where there are many Tyzzers). CA cousin is related on my Grandfather Toy's side., she has done much research for the family. I will e-mail you shortly. Thanks so much. Kathie

re Tyzzer.
Very interesting. My wife's great ... grandmother was Martha Tyzzer reportedly born in Cornwall, but married to John Crabtree in Burnley in 1886. It seems to tie in.
When I get the marriage information it will become clearer.
As to the origin of 'Tyzzer' the suggestion is that it is Spanish, and our grandson has a Spanish birthmark???

Thank you for your very prompt response.
Martha & John Crabtree emigrated to Australia, Tasmania, with their 3 daughters. Martha died in Hobart in 1937.
I am living in Werribee, just outside Melbourne in Victoria.
Love to get more information, and provide you with any details we can get or already have.

Dear Jan
How wonderful! I knew we had a Tasmanian conection. In 1953 when there was a Test Match series here in England, my young cousin heard that "The Australians" were at my grandmother's house and she became very excited expecting to see the cricketers and was very disapponted to find some elderly ladies - presumably Martha and John's daughters. I have long wanted to know who "The Australians" were.
I am not a member of Ancestry, so cannot contact you directly; if you can e-mail me privately and give me your personal contact details we can "chat" more.
