James Tytler m: Elizabeth (nee Scott) in Paisley Scotland Sept. 5 1831
Hi have only just read your message and wondered how you got on with finding any information. My husband's gt. gt. grandmother was a Christina Tytler that married a John Bruce (married 12 Nov. 1858) She was the daughter of James Tytler and Elizabeth (nee Scott) who were married in Paisley Scotland Sept. 5 1831. As this is all I have on this name I would be very interested to hear from you. Thanks, Marianne.

Re: Tytler Family Ancestors
Did you ever find other paths to trace your Tytler ancestors? Are you related to James Tytler, born 1851in Canada to Scottish immigrant parents? He emigrated to Monroe Cty, New York at some point and is listed in the 1920 census for Monroe along with his wife Anna.

Re: Tytler Family Ancestors
Typo? Marriage 13 Jun 1840? Take it you've noted them in 1841 Census at Shoe Lane, Aberdeen. William (30) and Elizabeth (20).

Re: Tytler Family Ancestors
I think I've found family in 1851 Census at Ferguson's Court, 108 1/2 Gallowgate, Aberdeen. William is 41, journeyman cabinetmaker, Elizabeth is 32 and wife, and Jean, 9, daughter - ALL BORN ABERDEEN. (You seem to think that William was born in Midmar.)
I'm wondering if I've also found William in 1881 Census at 31 Mealmarket St., Aberdeen - age 72, and still a cabinetmaker. Also there is a Margaret Tytler, wife, age 61, bo. Aberdeen.
Also a Margaret Tytler, 67, at 23 Shoe Lane, bo. Aberdeen found in 1881 Census. Wondered if this might be a sister of William.
A William Tytler, cabinetmaker, seemed to be in business at 2 Chronicle Lane, Aberdeen through the years 1827-1830 anyway and as this seemed a little early for your William I wondered if it might be a father. Just a suggestion.
