Jackie and Chuck:
I just found your messages. Have to stick my nose in! Richard Tysor was married to a Margaret Mary (May) Kelley first in Indiana someplace. Helen Van Dyke, b; 10/10/1907 was their child.
Helen is who told me she had never seen her father until she was 30 years old. I believe I was at that reunion. Her daughter, Joy, is sending me all this information from the St. Louis area. I still don't have it. Helen told me she had written out a lot of information about those early days so I'm hoping to have some "good stuff" to pass on to you both one of these days. After that time, Richard married Nellie Myrtle Segraves on 6 Sep 1911 in Grant Co., Indiana. Their children were: Lydia Ellen b; 27 Dec 1914, Rosa Marie (Rosie) b; Feb 1916, died in just a few years. And then Bob, my husband.
Just before I found this message board I had pulled up a Tysor from Delaware. I'll have to see if I can find that again and send you his name. I have never seen the Name Tysor in all my searching until this one.
Hope this isn't too lengthly for a message board.

Very glad to hear from you. I see that Ruth
Tysor also responded to your note. I have
quite a bit of information on the Tysors in the
Kansas area. I try to maintain information on
about 3 Tysor family lines and would like to tie
them together. They all came out of Ohio around
late 1700s. I assume you are talking about
Columbus Franklin Tysor that married Mary Simmons
and their grandson Roscoe L. Tysor. I would
love to correspond with you and catch up with
the latest on this family. Please e-mail me
at littleredbarn@freewwweb.com and let me know
how you tie into this lineage. By doing so,
I can link you into my MyFamily.com website
with quite a bit of information I am trying to
share with family members. I would like to
have one place that everyone shares and exchanges
information. Thanks for jumping in.

Hi Chuck,
Do you have information on the Augustine & Lucy Dowdy Ticer family, parents of Jane "Jennie" Ticer who married Andrew Voss or Jane's brother Uriah Ticer?

Sorry I do not. Only recently have I seen notes about about
Augustine with the spelling of "Ticer" and those children. Most
of what I know comes from the book "Tysor's of Old Chatham" by
Broughton. I have several Tysor families moving out of the southwest
corner of Ohio and assume Augustine and Lucy Tysor are my ancestors.
I had found the Gideon and Jane Tysor in the census reports but
not much beyond that.
Are you related to the Tysor family? I am trying to keep my families
up while I try to tie my multiple Tysor families together.
I am interested in knowing where your research is related to the
Tysor family and how you may tie in.
I am descended from the Tysors that moved from Ohio to Indiana
to Iowa to all over.
Please e-mail me at littleredbarn@juno.com .

My family has a lot of folklore that has been told and they believe we descend from a LEWIS TICER/TYCER. I was hoping you could help. Currently, I live in Northern Virginia (my family still lives in TN) and may also be able to help you with any research assistance you may need. Here goes some brief info of my family:

Me:
Dedra Ann Ticer-----------B. 1977 Born: Tenn
My brother: Albert D. Ticer Jr. born: 1971

My Dad:
Albert D. Ticer Sr.----B. 1953-Born: Tenn

His Siblings: Theresa, Cecila, Bernadette
Married: Deborah Jane Latham

My Grandfather:
Albert Ticer-----B. 1926 Born Tenn
His Siblings: William(Bill), Shirley, Marie
Married: Mary Mozelle Evans

My Great-Grandfather:
Albert Ticer........B 1901
His Siblings: Grover Cleveland Ticer , Fred Lee Parrish (1/2 brother)
Married: Katie Roser

My Great-Great Grandfather:
Lafayette A Ticer (Spelling differences: Fate, Fiyett, Fayette, Fayte, Fayett)---------B. 1870/1871-Born Tenn
His Siblings: John, Louvinia, Jimmie, Mattie, Walter, and Annie
Children of Lafayette.............Grover C. Cleveland Sr.?? & Albert Ticer

Lafayette's brother John"s info: John Henry Ticer M, W, Widowed---wife is possibly Florence Overall (Ticer), Born: 1862, 76 @death, farmer, Death: Nov 28, 1938, Buried Bethel Cem. His dad was William Ticer & mom was Sue Cooper. Same as Lafayette's
John Henry Ticer born 1867 in Tipton County, Tennessee wife Florence Overall----This maybe same person date is just off.

My Great-Great-Great Grandfather:
William A Ticer-------B. abt 1830 B. South Carolina
William Albert had a brother named George which are the tipton county Ticer's---This is also excerpt don't know if right
His Siblings-----(Possibly Johnny Ticer and Charlie Ticer)-------this is new info
Children of William A. Ticer: John, Louvinda, Jimmie, Mattie, Lafayette, Walter, Annie---There is now said to be possibly a Harold & Louis

My G-G-G-G Grandfather:
John Ticer??? Don't know if this is right--------B 1785? B Virginia-----------------This info is from you
His Siblings: ??????
Children of John: (William A, Margaret L, Robert E, James P, George W, Elizabeth, John Newton)

The North Carolina Part is like this:
There is so much folklore on our side. My aunt said that they remember a farm in Tipton county that my gg-grandmother and her husband lived on. Supposedly it was a "harem"/ red light district home. This I recently found out. When my grandmother died---she had some information in her "Cedar Lane" trunk that was never seen until now. I guess our family was contacted in the 1970's by a Letha Blackard and was trying to establish a connection. She wrote an extensive journal on the "Ticer Family." Over the past year or two it has become public info. It is housed in Texas. I also bought the book of the "Tysors of Old Chatham" NORTH CAROLINA...

We think we are connected in with LEWIS TYSOR. He thought Charles Ticer was some sort of kin. It was stated that THOMAS TYSOR (brother of Lewis & Charles) went to Arkansas---no further record "excerpt from The Tysors of Old Chatham" NORTH CAROLINA

G.W. Ticer is possibly a brother of WILLIAM ANDREW JACKSON TICER. John H. Ticer & Christopher Columbus Ticer are believed to be cousins of William Andrew Jackson Ticer. John Henry Ticer had a child named Charles R Ticer. According to the letters William Albert had a brother named GEORGE and these 2 comprised the TICER'S in Tipton County, TN.

In one of the letter's of have that was written from Alexandria, VA in NOV. 13, 1956-----stated that ________ Ticer (I can't understand the signature---which I think it is either Louis, John, Charles, Edmond) was the 7th son of LEWIS TICER---- born. VA 1814 (Heathville Northumberland County) and died in ALEXANDRIA, VA in 1877. Supposedly there is a family bible stating that LEWIS had 11 CHILDREN. There is more info in the letter stating the grandfather Lewis had either 7 brothers-----one went to Washington, DC----the other located in Baltimore, MD there names were WILLIAM and JOHN. THIS IS POSSIBLY OUR WILLIAM AND JOHN.

I don't know HOW we are connected to Hugh Clark Ticer & SARAH CAROLINE RORIE.

Recently I have been told about a William Albert Ticer that had 2 BROTHERS named Johnny and Charlie (Nicknames I suppose for John and Charles) there family still lives in Millington, TN. This William Albert Ticer had KIDS named LOUIS & HAROLD----which I have heard about these Ticer's but was told we were of no KIN. I know that TICER is a family name and I am trying to get all facts straight because of the clear fact of MY BROTHERS, MY DADS, MY GRANDFATHERS, MY GREAT GRANDFATHERS name and on and on.

I do know some of where William's kids are. As you know of course, Ark and Tenn is prevelant. Virginina also has some of that same line. I think Texas and Louisiana does too. I also have information stating they came by way of a "flat boat". Supposedly there are some "Black Ticer's" left over fro the civil war also. Do you know anything about that? I do hope we can piece this together.

Dedra, my research indicates that there is little or no connection between the Ticer and Tycer lines, unless it be several centuries ago. I've read that Ticer is a family from the British Isles whereas Tycer is one from Germany and France. Our Ticer line apparently originated in Virginia as did the Tycer family (which is not unusual since most of the early settlers from Europe landed on the east coast from Virginia to Mass.)But then our Ticer line migrated to York County, South Carolina. From there some of the family moved westward. My Ticer line went first to Lauderdale County, Alabama, crossed over to Hardin County, Tennessee, and then onward to Searcy County (now Stone), Arkansas. Your line seems to have gone from York County, South Carolina, directly to Tennessee - Tipton Co, etc. - and ended up in Shelby County, in the Memphis area.

The information you supply seems to be accurate and corresponds mostly to what I have gathered on my Louisa & Hugh Clark Ticer who married Hezekiah Columbus Rorie and his sister, Sarah Caroline Rorie. Our common ancestor appears to be John Newton Marion "Meredy" Ticer who first married Jane Wallis (Wallace). He was the son of Clark Ticer, died 1804 in York County, South Carolina (source: his will).

Hi all, I've just got started on my Ticer family. My great grandfather was John William 1881-1931. His wife, Martha Orilla " Emma" Nation. His father was Newton Absolom Josiah Ticer 1861- 1831. His wife, Rosline Lawson 1850-1885. His father was Hugh Clark 1832-1898. His wife, Sarah Caroline Rorie 1832-1891. His father, I think? Hugh 1791- 1870. His wife Jane Wallace 1793- 1872. I'm at a wall now! Does anyone know if I'm correct with these names and dates and can anyone help me find out more about the rest. Also where did the Ticers come from? I was told Germany, but have read British Isles...

I'd love to receive any information.... my email is: mmpie59@comcast.net

Blessings to all, Melissa
