I don`t think we have a connection. I talked to my cousin who is a Modzelewska and she doesn`t recognize any of the names. Unfortunately our parents never talked about family. The conversation usually stopped whe we asked questions about relatives in Poland and also about their own parents. It is going to be tough to break down this stone wall.My Uncle Modzelewski came to USA with his sisters.Another sister remained in Poland. My father and grandfather and my fathers sister came to USA together but I don`t know if his mother came with them. There could be a possibility of a connectin because of the Lomza location.I will pass on any info I get in the future. Thanks for your inquiry. Stan

Modzelewska, Antonina

Hi,

I recently discovered who my GGGP's were via a private researcher from Warsaw from PolGen. His name is Michal Marciniak.

He found documents that tell me who my GGGP's were and they were as follows:

Michal Renkiewicz
Antonina (Modzelewska) Renkiewicz

It is believed that information on Michal & Antonina Renkiewicz could possibly be found at the Lomza Archives as they possibly were parishoneers from the Roman Catholic Church in Radzilow, Poland?

They had a son named Andrzej Renkiewicz born about 1852 who 1st married Antonina Krainska and after she died he married for the 2nd time to a woman named Marianna Chmielewska.

They were from Mscichy, Poland. But at this time it was occupied by Russia so all the documents the researcher found are all written in Russian.

What I am trying to determine is who the other children of Michal & Antonina (Modzelewska) Renkiewicz are other than Andrzej as I want to be able to link other living Renkiewicz to this lineage?

On my GF's birth document from 19 Nov 1878 it states that the witnesses were JAN RENKIEWICZ age 40 and Franciszek Wisniewski age 50 both farmers from Zebry, Poland. It also states that my GF's Godparents were, again "JAN RENKIEWICZ and Julianna Wisniewska" Julianna I presume is Franciszek Wisniewski's wife. My GF was baptized on 21 Nov 1878 at the Roman Catholic Church in Wasosz, Poland.

By this document alone it infers that Andrzej Renkiewicz born abt 1852 could of had an older brother named JAN RENKIEWICZ born about 1838 and he named his 1st born son after his older brother JAN who was 40 years of age at the time of the birth of his brothers 1st son also named Jan.

Andrzej Renkiewicz would of been abt 26 years of age when his 1st child was born?

Any information and or suggestions are warmly and graciously accepted.

I can be reached at my email JJRynk@Hotmail.com

God Bless,

Sto Lat,

Jan J. Rynkiewicz (The Grandson)

Hello Stanley,
If you are still interested I think that I have found where Benjamin Tyska came from. He arrived in New York "New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957" from Rotterdam on board the ship "Rotterdam". Date of arrival was 24 Jun 1913. His name was transcribed as "Bronislaw Tiska" & POB was transcribed as "anelita kara" - should read "Jemielite Stare". He left behind his Mother "Ewa Tiska" in Poland & his destination was to his Father "Alexander Tiska" in "Ludlow? St Stamford Connecticut". He travelled with a Joseph Tiska from the same village of Jemielite Stare. I have recently researched Joseph & his family in Poland. Jemielite Stare belongs to Śniadowo Parish in Łomża Powiat/County. Bronislaw/Benjamin & Joseph may have been related. The Grandmother of Joseph was Anna Modzelewska.

Stan,

My GG GM was Antonina Modzelewska and she married an Michal RENKIEWICZ and settled in Mscichy, Poland. Modzelewski actually has a town/village named Modzele of which the name is derived. I have the names of Antonina's parents and if you email me I can send you a lil' more info on her as I don't believe she was born in Mscichy but as it was suggested to me by a private researcher in Warsaw named Michal Marciniak of PolGen that she could be from Sokolka or Mooki/Monki areas in Poland and perhaps even the Goniadz parish vital records

Antonina's father was Antoni Modzelewski and JOZEFATA POPLAWSKA

Michal Marciniak also stated this:

"The name of Modzelewski was common nobility name in this area. The name of Poplawski is very rare in Radzilow parish records. The name of Poplawski is much more common on the other bank of Biebrza river, in the Monki area. Maybe the mother of Antonina Jozefata Poplawska Modzelewska came from the Monki area."
