Hi Beatrice!

The Tysinger reunion that my branch of the Tysinger family have been holding for the last 9 years or so will be held again this year on August 12, 2006, at Carolina Memorial Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC. This is a reunion of the descendants, family, and friends of Nathan Henry Tysinger (1891-1963), and his brother, Robie Edward Tysinger (1887-1947), of Davidson and Randolph Counties, North Carolina, sons of John M. and Josephine (Kanoy) Tysinger. It is an informal potluck gathering. People usually begin arriving around 11:30 and we usually begin eating around noon. We try to book the fellowship hall until 3 or 4 pm, so folks can sit and chat afterwards.

There is a larger Tysinger reunion which was first held last year and is planned for this year on April 29, 2006, at Beck's United Church of Christ, just outside of Lexington, NC.This is a reunion of the descendants of Adam Tysinger, who is considered to be the founding ancestor of the Tysingers in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, California, and several other states, and I understand there will be cousins there from most of these places. It is picnic, and the information I have says people will begin gathering around 10:30, with lunch beginning around 12:30, and more time afterward to continue getting to know new cousins. I am not involved in organizing this reunion, so for this you would need to contact Frances Tysinger Robinson (frobin3914@msn.com) for more information.

Hope you can make it to both!

Barbara Tysinger

Barbara, thank you for your reply and for the information. I am planning to attend to reunion on the 29th of April and at this point I am planning on attending your reunion. I will need instructions because I am not familiar with Thomasville at all. I am very excited and looking forward to meeting all of you. I was born in Carthage but my family moved to lexington before I was old enough to remember moving. I spent the first thirteen years of my life in Lexington but the only Tysingers I knew were my immediate family. Again many thanks dfor the information. Beatrice

Do you know anything about Mary Tysinger who married John Hoover in Randolph Co., North Carolina. In 1850 they were still living in Randolph Co., North Carolina. Their first male child was Adam Hoover who died in Lexington, Lafayette Co., Missouri. The family moved from North Carolina to Illinois (location unknown) and then to Missouri. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
