cathy, my father's name was rufus homer tysinger. He was born in Lexington, N.C. on March 14, 1909. He had a brother named Frank, two sisters, Essie and Mattie. His father's name was Frank and his Mother's name was Estelle (Weaver). I am attempting to do the same thing you are and this is the beginning for me. If you have any info that I can use please reply.

I am also just beginning my family search. I don't know if this will help but I hope it will. My great grandmother was Ella Tysinger Rhodes. She was born to Daniel and Trythenia(sp?) Tysinger and raised in Lexington NC. Ella's siblings were John, Charlie, Nettie, Belle, Laura, and a half brother named Matthew. Daniel was married before but I do not know his first wife's name. The Tysinger homeplace was not far from Rhodes Rd. or Central Davidson High School in Lexington. Ella died in the early 1980s but she left behind 10 children all of whom live in various parts of NC. If you have any additional info. please let me know at J.L.Shull@worldnet.att.net Thanks

I saw your message and felt I needed to write. My grandfather
Paul Turner Tysinger had 2 other brothers - Bernie and Robah and one
sister named Mabel. They lived in the Lexington, NC area and my grandfather
married my grandmother who lived in Southmont, NC - her last name
is Lookabill. I want to do a family tree and when I saw you mentioned
Lexington I thought perhaps by some chance we are related. Hope to hear from you.

Tisinger in Rowan Co.

Shannon,
My family has been searching for a George Washington Tisinger (Tysinger) who passed through N.C. between 1800 and 1825? He was married to Melinda Smoot Matteauer. We have found a great deal of information on Tysiners in the Rowan Co. Public Library's genealogy room, but no sign of a George W. Tisinger in any records. He moved to Upson Co., Ga. and raised a large family there and one of his grandson G.W. Tisinger moved to the Victory Comm.in Carroll Co. Ga. and had an large family of 9 children. I attend the country church in that community and last summer in August the church was struck by lightning and burned. after a year a new church is being rebuilt very similar to the orginal with the two tower on the front - one a bell tower and the other a short tower. I am proud to be related to tisingers, but where oh where is G. W. Tisinger from N.C.
Good luck in your research.

John.

I have some info on Louis Fielding Tisinger from Thomaston, Ga/Eufaula, Al. I think that he moved on from there. I will have to dig deeper to find it. One funeral notice for his mother, Irene Tisinger who lived in Eufaula, but was buried in the old Rucker family lot at Thomaston, Ga. Will be glad to share what I can find, if this is the one you are looking for. My ancestor from that time was David Franklin Tisinger who moved to Carroll Co., Ga. His father was Geo. W. Tisinger, but can not find his family.

My gr.gr.grandfather, Geo.W.Tisinger seems to fit the Tisingers of Virginia and Ohio better than the ones in N.C. altho on his death certificate, it says that he was from Rowan Co. N.C.I would like to hear from someone in Va. or OH on their Tisinger lines to help me with this puzzle.

Yes, the name has been spelled both ways. The Louis I have read about possibly moved to OH. Where do you live?
