My great, great grandfather, James Tyrer,
to America in 1777 as an officer in the
British Army. He surrendered at Saratoga in
1777, married the daughter of an American
officer. His family moved from New York to
the mid west. The descendants of the James
Tyrer amounts the hundreds of Tyrers .

Give me a hint of your family.

My grand fathers name was Arthur Tyrer, born in chorley about 1890. that's as far back as I have been able to trace. Any help would be appreciated.

To Donald:
Are you talking about James T. Tyrer and Ruth Goodell. Looking for any family history data on them. If you and I talking about the same one, James had a son who went to Illinois and his name is Asa Tyrer married to Chloe Andrews.

Hello Anthony. I'm not sure where Chorley is
but the Tyrer family is relatively small and
most certainly those is US came from England.
My gr gr gr grandfather,James, came in 1777 in the
in the British army. He obviously left family
in England. Have wondered about this. Don

Must have been too early in the morning when I
I replied to your message. Asa was my great,
great, grandfather. And Asa spent his summers
in Dodgeville and the winter in Qunicy. It
would be great if we knew where in England
James Tyrer came from and learn of family he l
left in England. Don
