Hello, I am new at this geneology research. Would any of you out there know about Sarah Jane Collins (born Tyree). Sarah Jane was my great-grandmother. She had a son named John Butler Tyree, he was my grandfather. Any leads as to who her parents were and where and when they were born?

Hi Pamela,
Do you have an idea of when Sarah Jane Tyree was born? Have you checked the census records to see if it tells where she was born and where her parents were born?

Hello Pamela,
I don't know if you have already found the info you needed, but I think my wife's family is related to you. My wife's maiden name is Tyree. Her father is James Tyree from Ravenden Springs, Arkansas in Randolph County. We believe Sarah Tyree (Tyre) was his great aunt. Sarah had a younger brother named Moses Dabner Tyre. Moses Dabner was James Tyree's grandfather. He went by Dabner, but Moses was his birth name. We have seen M. D. Tyre listed on his marriage license in 1903. We also found Dabner M. Tyree listed in the 1900 Census. Check the 1880 US Federal Census for Jackson and Susana Tyre. They had 6 children listed and their oldest daughter was named Sarah (born around 1861). Did John Butler Tyree marry Emma Jane Voyles and have two children Hubert (son) and Wavy (daughter)? Please reply back with any info that you have regarding John Bulter Tyree.

Thanks, Dean W.

Hello Dean,
I am James Lawrence Tyree's daughter. He was the son of Emma Jane Voyles and John Butler Tyree. Emma and John Butler had two children that died young as you mentioned. But they also had my father and two daughters;Lois and Amy Nell were my father's sisters.
I have checked census and have found the one with Susanna and Jackson. I found another that listed a Sarah and was not sure if Jackson had been married earlier before he married Susana. Or if this was a different set of Tyree's.

My grandfather, John Butler was given his mother's maiden name. I do not know who his biological father was or where he was from.
Does your wife or her father remember any references to Sarah Tyree's having had Butler out of wedlock. I believe that Sarah also had another son who was older than Butler. His name was Dabner. I do not believe that he ever married but I am not sure of that. He is buried in the same cemetery are John Butler and Emma Jane.

Sorry it took me so long to reply to your thread.
Thanks Pamela

Hello,

I was able to find out that Sarah's parents are Andrew Jackson Tyree and Susanna M Tribble. Andrew was born 25 May 1822 and died 1890. Susanna was born 14 May 1837 and died 17 Feb 1889. I haven't investigated further. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for your information Larry.

I am not sure that we are connected to William Joshua Tyree, but I will try to research and see if there is a connection. I dont' remember a mention of Alabama, but it could be that some of my relatives were there a year that the census was not taken.
