MY greatgranfather was Elisha M. Tyra who married Mattie E. Perry. I believe the middle initials are correct. I don't have a lot but their children were: Oscar, John,Leona, Nannie or Annie, and Lewis. Mrs. Tyra later married an Elkins and lived in AZ. I don't think they had any children, but not sure. She was in her mid fifties when living by herself in Tx. with the children. Lived in Bandera Co. Oscar and Clara may have lived in AZ. They had two sons: Glen who did a lot of geneology on Tyras and Leonard who was killed while on a bicycle so my Mother told me. My granfather was John M. Tyra.

So, who was your father and granfather? I just read your email today, 27th, I have been very busy this past week and haven't checked emails for a couple or three days. My granfather was John Marshall Tyra. I really don't know much more than you do but, would like to really start digging into the Tyra's further. My mother really didn't know much about that side either. More on her Mother's side. She said her Dad never talked much about his parents. I think he was closest to Will and Leona. There is someone from who was married to one of the brother's or sister's children out in Arizona (which is where many of them lived that has also emailed me, and I have just not had a chance to follow up anyfurther with them. I do have a good picture of Will and Leona which I would be willing to share and I think maybe of Mrs. Perry (not sure will have to look next week) If you can give me a little more information about yourself and an address to mail the pictures I will be glad to share with you. Have you been trying to dig up infor on ancestry? I worked on it a little here while back, but didn't find much. Let me know if you would like the pics and I will mail copies to you. Glad to have some contact with you. My Mother would be glad and I will tell her brother you contacted me. Stay in touch.
