That's the problem I dont know when she got married. But from the stories her husband Henry Tynes killed her. I believe they lived in Brooklyn, NY because that's where my mom was born.

This appears to be her birth, indexed at www.familysearch.org

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VHTG-DB1

Her parents are listed as Samuel Bulluck and Christine Richardson. She is the only one with that exact set of parents.

Here is one possiblity for Samuel in 1930, based on his residence - more research will need to be done to make sure it is the right one.

Since Jackie was born after 1940, you won't be able to depend on census records. Do you have any idea when she was married? Her marriage record may include her parents names. Where in New York did she die - an obit may help. You can request her social security application, which should include parents, but it is expensive, and with recent rule changes, all of the information may not be included on the copy you get.

Hello! I'm trying to see if anyone has any info on a woman named Jackie Tynes. That was her name when she died. I believe her maiden name was Saunders. Her date of birth is 11-30-1941& her date of death is around 9/1973. Her husband at the time was Henry Tynes. And her mom was I believe Christine Richardson. Christine was believed to have been married twice. They were from Spring Hope, NC. But Jackie I believe was born in VA before moving to NY. I'm trying to find out who my grandmother Jackie's father is. Please help!

John Earl 'Bud' Tynes

News Tribune, The (Tacoma, WA) - February 1, 2013

Bud Tynes Bud (John Earl) Tynes , 72, of Gig Harbor, departed from this world to be with his first love, Jesus Christ, on January 26, 2013. Having celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary that same day, he leaves behind his wife and true second love, Lyn. Bud was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi to John and Clairee Tynes on August 4, 1940. Graduating from Valencia High School in Placentia, California, Bud went on to play football and earn a MS in Physical Education from the University of Utah. Following a coaching assignment at Utah, he assumed the role of Offensive Coordinator at the University of Iowa. Later, Bud and his family of four moved to Vancouver, Canada to coach in the Canadian Football League with the British Columbia Lions. It was after his fifth season with the Lions that Bud chose to leave coaching and pursue long held interests in housing and land development. From his new home in Gig Harbor, Washington, Bud employed his skills to become a civic and entrepreneurial leader. As president of the Seattle Master Builders, and Washington State Home Builders Association, Bud's influence on the industry remains significant. During these years Bud returned to coaching at Gig Harbor High School, sharing his vast athletic experience with youngest son Nate, his peers. In Bud's "second half" he began to influence works of an eternal nature as he recognized fullness of life as a follower of Christ. He found sanctuary at Life Center Church of Tacoma, where he served as loyal, loving member and leader for over thirty years. As disciple maker in his home for Lyn, his sons Mat and Nate, he led with ferocious love and unending grace. The greatest joys of Bud's concluding two decades are named Madison, Jordan, Laurel, Zachary, Mathew and Nathan his six beautiful grandchildren to whom he would continuously encourage, "God loves you, and so do I." A memorial service will be held at Life Center Church of Tacoma on February 2, 2013 at noon to honor and celebrate the life of Bud Tynes .
James Tynes

Houston Chronicle (TX) - April 7, 2013
Deceased Name: James Tynes
TX United States

James (Jim) Doyle Tynes 83, passed away at home on March 20, 2013, with his loving wife, Cathy by his side. Jim courageously battled Parkinson Disease, with strength and with lack of complaint for 17 years. Jim was born in Martinsville, Texas, September 3, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Elizabeth Tynes , a dear brother-in-law, Rev. Rand Baxter, and dear sister-in-law, Jeraldine Jasek. Jim graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1947 and attended the University of Houston. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea, with the 712th Transportation Railway Operating Battalion. Jim's careers took him in two directions, The Association of American Railroads, Southern Pacific Railroad, and later as a 1st class pipefitter with Brown & Root Inc. Jim met and married the love of his life, Catherine Jasek on September 9, 1977, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Together they enjoy traveling, boating, carpentry, reading, listening to all kinds of music and watching many of their favorite movies and just being together. Jim enjoyed playing Spanish music for their neighbors. But not last, we enjoyed raising our 7 dogs and 3 cats. Jim was a big sports fan, he cheered on the Houston teams and the Dallas Cowboys. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Catherine; loving sisters, Doris Baxter, Billie Walker (Lonnie), Twila Worsham (Waymon) and Brooksie Worsham (Dennis); brother-in-law, James Jasek; nieces, nephews, cousins, and may more dear friends and his feline companions Bright Eyes, Penny, and Blacky. The family would like to thank Catherine's sister, Jeraldine and brother, James, for their many years of love and devotion. Also to Jim's and Catherine's neighbors for their generosity and support. Thank you all who called, for your visits, prayers, and lovely cards that always brought out Jim's beautiful smile, as did his favorite Blue Bell Vanilla ice-cream and chocolate candy. The family is grateful for the excellent care given by his physicians and the entire staff of Memorial Hermann Hospice (our angels on earth) who provided his care with love comfort and compassion. Jim will be remembered for his great sense of humor, kindness, and his love for Catherine. Jim will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched. In lieu of customary remembrances the family request with great gratitude that memorial contributions in James Tynes name be directed to: Memorial Hermann Hospice 920 Frostwood, Ste 7:400, Houston, Texas 77024 or to Houston SPCA, 900 Portway Drive, Houston, Texas 77024, or to a charity of your choice. My dear Poppy, you are now WALKING with our Lord. May you rest in peace.
Ok. Not my family, but I found them all on the 1940 census in Waco and then on Findagrave.com. Joseph Ford Tynes was the patriarch there. They trace all the way back to the Fleming Tynes bunch who were the first to go to Mississippi/Alabama. I could email you the 1940 census - but you will get everything you want to know from the stories on Findagrave, and it's free! Mark James, who lives in New Zealand, spoke at our Tynes Reunion in Tishomingo. He is a professional genealogist/historian, and is from the Fleming Tynes group himself. Any help he could give you is bona fide. Barbara Tynes Claiborne

Hello Pam --
So sorry to hear of your husband's passing. Yes indeed, I remember our correspondence well. In fact when I was first getting interested in Tynes genealogy, some fifteen years ago, it was his recounting of the Tynes legends from the Bermuda and South Carolina branches that got me hooked.
-- Mark James
My great grandfather was Carl Tynes from Bergen, Norway.

He was a dear man who was missed greatly by his family when he passed. I have his rocker, Bible and Book of St. John (from Ellis Island). He lived in Rochester, MN.

My family has been to Norway to visit our relatives.

They also had close friends from other Norwegians who went to Rochester, MN.

My great-aunt used to tell us about Tynes' in the Bahamas...lol.

I realize that my post is about 11 years after your post about Robert Fleming Tynes but if this reaches you, I shall most grateful to get a copy of the Tynes info. I, too, descend from Minor Edwin Tynes. My grandfather, father and brother carried the Tynes name. My e-mail is mizcaro@bellsouth.net. I shall deeply appreciate any information on the Tynes family. Thank you! Caro Harvey Feagin

I'm looking for the book John Hastle Tynes & Associated Families. If anyone knows where I can find a copy or if anyone has one, please message me. I have heard that it has information regarding the Laura Tynes/David Holston/Henry Castello family, which is the object of my research right now.
My husband and I are trying to trace his Tynes family in Dartmouth, N. S. His maternal grandfather was Thomas Tynes 1875-1946), the son of George Tynes and Elizabeth Williams. Do you have any info on them? Thomas Tynes married Florence May Wise Brown in 1901. They had 4 children but we have only been able to document 3 of them, Harold Jeffrey Tynes, Ruth Edna Pearl Tynes, and Lillian Florence Alberta Tynes. Would appreciate any help that you can give us. Thanks~

New DNA results

2010 has been the year of genetic genealogy for Tynes researchers, and we have had three fascinating results so far. And it might not be over yet, because Family Tree DNA has a discount right now on Y-chromosome tests until the end of the year. If you have been thinking about getting your DNA tested, now might be the best time (see below).

Our results so far:

1. Our first tester was a descendant of the Robert Fleming Tynes line of Louisiana and adjacent states. He first tested 37 markers, but after things got interesting, he upgraded to a full 67-marker test. The more markers we test, the more accurate the results are.

2. Next came a member of the Isle of Wight County, Virginia, Tynes line (its Caucasian side). Comparing with our first tester, we found an exact match in 65 of the 67 markers -- meaning these two lines are connected in fairly recent historical times. How recent? With just two testers we can't pin it down precisely, but the most likely timeframe (using simple statistics) would put our common ancestor in the seventeenth century, just when the Tyneses of Bermuda were beginning to immigrate to America.

3. Then we got our first Scottish tester! A gentleman named THYNE with Scottish ancestry submitted a full 67-marker test. Since many Tynes families have stories about Scottish origins, and Thyne and Tynes are possible variants of the same name, here was a way to find out. The answer: The two families are not closely related at all -- not even in the same haplogroup. This doesn't mean we don't have Scottish origins too; it just means Tynes and Thyne are not the same family.

There are still many Tynes lines yet to be tested, and I hope at least one male with the Tynes surname will test from each line. We have the Isaac Tynes line of Missouri, the Robert Fisher Tynes line of Mississippi, the Tyneses of the Bahamas, those of Surry County, Virginia, and the various African-American Tynes families. If you are interested, or if you can persuade a male who bears the Tynes surname to take the test, go to this link:

http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Tynes

to join the Tynes Group on Family Tree DNA. It's the Y-DNA37 and Y-DNA67 tests that will help delineate the history of the Tynes family. (Less than 37 markers is, in my opinion, a waste of money.) If you go there by Friday you'll get the discount.

Any questions, please E-mail me or ask here.

-- Mark James (Tynes DNA group administrator)
tmarkjames@yahoo.com
