Wilda Berry Tynes , 93, of Sandy Hook, died Jan. 1, 2013, at Marion General Hospital in Columbia.
Visitation is 10 a.m. Monday at Stateline Baptist Church in Stateline, La., until services there at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Donnie Broom, the Rev. Jerry Kennedy and the Rev. Brent King officiating. Burial will be in Tynes Cemetery in Stateline. Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home of Bogalusa, La., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Tynes was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Marion County, to Thomas and Rebecca Slade Berry.
She worked for Wesley Ray Elementary School in the reading program and was a teachers aide for more than 22 years in the second and third grades for the Washington Parish School System.
Her ministry in life was to be a Christian role model for children and young people.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, the Rev. Locthe Tynes , and she was a loving second mother and aunt to many.
Mrs. Tynes was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six sisters, Mary Jane Berry Herring, Belle Berry Herring, Allie Berry Kennedy, Maricie Berry Kennedy, Delhia Berry McKenzie and Margie Berry Kennedy; and three brothers, Henry Berry, Thomas Berry Jr. and Elwood Berry.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Tynes ' special longtime caregivers, Mary Bullock and Yvonne Fortenberry; and the hospice caregivers, Linda, Vanessa and Dianna.
