Clarence Brock, 88, of Avondale, died Jan. 10 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Elsmere, Del.

He was the husband of Geraldine Tynes Brock, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Kennett Square, he was a son of the late Hezekiah and Ella Johnson Brock. He served our country in the Army during World War II. He earned his certification as an auto mechanic from the Automotive Trades Institute in Philadelphia in 1950. He was a foreman for NVF Company in Yorklyn, Del., for 42 years. He was a devoted member and deacon of the Second Baptist Church of Kennett Square, the VFW post 5467, the Masonic Lodge No. 40 in Chatham, Pa., and the Thursdays Retired Men's Club. He enjoyed hunting and playing pool, and he was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include, in addition to his wife, two daughters, Shirley Brock Ritchie (Charles) of Marietta, Ga., and Beverly Brock Battin of Reading, Pa.; one sister, Stella Barrett of Boothwyn, Pa.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Marie Boddy, Sarah Snipe and Virginia Brock; and a brother, Louis Brock.

A visitation with family is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 17 at the Second Baptist Church of Kennett Square (132 S. Willow St., Kennett Square). His funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Second Baptist Church of Kennett Square, P.O.
