Hello Margaret,
No, Joseph came out to Adelaide SA on the "Lady Lilford" in 1839. He came from Keswick, Cumberland.
I don't think he is related to your query. There was a Joseph /Joshua Ladyman who went to Inverell NSW, but don't know any more than that. I know a lot about the Keswick ladymans. The Inverell ones may have come from Buckinghamshire as Imknow there were a lotthere.
regards.
Pamela.

Hi Kevin,
I have a lot of information on the Lady Lilford. Are you connected with the Ladyman family or one of the ships passengers?
The Lady Lilford left Liverpool June 18 1839 and arrived in Port Adelaide Sept 27, 1839. 203 passengers. I have the complete list. 535 tons. Capt. kermath.
Joseph Ladyman, Isabella his wife and 5 children arrived. One was born 10 days out of Pt Adelaide at sea.
There is a diary of the voyage written by Ralph Mercer in the SA state library.
Let me know what information you require and whether or how you are connected.
Regards, Pamela Kirkham

Hi Pamela, I am connected with one of the passengers, John Thomas Rigbye, no connection with Ladyman at all, sorry, I just did a google search on Lady Lilford looking for anything available and found your post.

I am interested in any information you can share about the "Lady Lilford". Anything at all would be great.

I have a photocopy of the Joseph Mercer diary, but it's not a good copy and his writing is so hard to read it's almost impossible. Is there a transcript available of the diary?

Could you email me off list please to: kclarence at netspace dot net dot au. Thanks.

Kevin

I am a descendant of the Joshua and Elizabeth Denny Ladyman family who lived in Steeple Claydon during the 1800s. There were 10 children: 2 died young, 2 emigrated to Australia (one stayed and one left), and 5 emigrated to southern Michigan. My grandmother, Sarah and her sister Amy, arrived in NY in 1899. Joseph settled in Inverell, New South Wales. Benjamin left Australia after his wife died and came to NY in 1898. Sarah was born in 1865 and died in 1918. I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who has more information about this family or who would like any information that I have. I live in Rochester, Minnesota.

Hi both of you who left messages.
I am not related to this Joshua Ladyman but I have a lot of info of his family tree. As well I have a contact with another descendant of this Joshua who lives in Australia, in Qld.
I have been communicating with him and also gathered information in researching my own Joseph Ladyman. This Joshua had a son Joseph who came to Australia in 1875 with his brothers Edward and Benjamin. Contact me by email palkirkham@picknowl.com.au. for further info. They lived at Inverell. NSW.
Best wishes, Pamela.
