Hi
I have just found this site and it's most interesting as I find family history fascinating. My father was Charles Sholto Tindal son of Charles Henry - Granson of Charles Grant who established the meatworks at Ramornie. I have never read anything about a connection with the Porter family - there is a family tree which has been kept up to date. It is most interesting how the name has come through your family - there is a lot of information at the Grafton Museum and there is a cemetary for the meat workers and their families near the works so maybe there may be something there?
Let me know if I can help.
Regards
Robyn

Hi
My name is Robyn MacDougall nee Tindal daughter of Charles Sholto Tindal of Ramornie. Dad was Charles Henry's son and grandson of Charles Grant Tindal who established the meatworks. We have a family tree which is at present with my mother which may be of help but someone who has done lots of work is my cousin in England Linsday Stillwell. If you would like his address please contact me.
Regards
Robyn

Dear Cousin Robyn,

At last! I've been trying to track down Australian Tindal cousins for ages.
My late grandfather was Nicolas Tindal-Carill-Worsley who was the great great grandson of Thomas Tindal. Thomas was the brother of Sir Nicolas Tindal, Lord Chief Justice, and Charles Tindal, the father of Charles Grant Tindal. My uncle is also Charles.
Looking at the entry in Burke's Landed Gentry, Charles Henry, your grandfather, was in turn grandson of Charles Grant, which must be what you meant.
That makes us fifth cousins once removed (you are one generation up from me).
I would love to know more about the Australian side of the family. Do you know about Wing Commander Archie Tindal, the first Australian airman killed in WWII, during the raid on Darwin? An airbase is named after him in the Northern Territory. What relation was he of yours, do you know?
I will try and send you my email in a private message.
Greetings from the other side of the world!
All the very best,
Francis

Robyn,
Further to my last post, I see in Burke that you are descended from Thomas Tindal as well as Charles Tindal. Charles Frederick, son of Charles Grant, married Edith, daughter of Rev Henry, son of Thomas Tindal. So 4th and 5th cousins we must be.
I can't message you directly. Could you try?
Thanks,
Francis

Please contact me and let me know if you know more about this line. I found lots of information here and there just surfing the web. But piecing things together can be tricky with names being the same as generations are born. My email is littleredwing72@yahoo.com. I love learning the past and what my ancestors in their lives and did for me to be here right now.

Thank you very much.

Many thanks for that.

I can't confirm any of that right now but there are family records for William Tyndale's family (Tyndale of Hayling). I will see if I can find any assistance for you.

Our Tindals (then Tyndalls) were descended from another brother of William Tyndale according to a genealogy in Nichol's 18th Century Anecdotes.

Best wishes,

Francis

We find a Margaret Tyndale b abt 1510 who married Rev. Rowland Taylor on our family tree. Does she belong to your Tyndale family? I am having a problem with info I am seeing on the net as to her parentage. Everything points to her being the child of a John Tyndale and Amphelice Coiningsby. But other info I have read, indicates she is not listed as a child of tht family wills, peerage documents etc. Do you have any info as to who the parent are of, Margaret Tyndale's who married Rowland Taylor?
