I have read the postings about Margaret Tyndale and Dr. Rowland Taylor with interest.

I am a descendent of Rowland Taylor and plan to take my family to Hadleigh in Suffolk County next month to see his church and the place where he was burned at the stake. I noted that the Tyndales trace their ancestry to Northumberland County, where John Taylor and Susan Rowland, the parents of Dr. Rowland Taylor, were reported to have been born in 1485 and 1509 respectively.

There is much that I would like to find out about the Tyndale and Taylor relationship and I hope that some of you may be willing to help educate me. Was Margaret Tyndale born in Northumberland and did she marry Rowland Taylor there? What happened to her and her children after Rowland was killed?

I have been told that John Taylor, a grandson by Thomas Taylor and Elizabeth Burwell, was born at Muncaster Castle near Carlisle, England and later emigrated to the Colony of Virginia. But I have no proof of this connection to Rowland Taylor.

Any information on the Tyndale and Taylor connection in England will be appreciated. I will, of course, be glad to share. Thanks for any help.

I, too, am a descendent of Rowland Taylor. I just came across your post and am wondering if you made your trip and what info you found. That is a trip I would love to make.

I'm a descendent of Rowland Taylor too. I'm trying to find Pennington Castle. Is Muncaster Castle the same thing as pennington?

If you do a google search, I believe that Pennington Castle is now Muncaster. I find it pretty confusing and I have tried to email the Pennington's because I believe there are ancestors still living there, but I have never gotten a response.

My mom and I just discovered that we too are descended from Rowland and Margaret Taylor. We have the same questions in the first posts. We live in Utah and have access to the genealogy library here if anyone wants to share resources with us for this family.

Thanks. What info do you have on Margaret's relation to William Tyndale? About what time did Rowland Taylor's line come over to America - is that an appropriate question? I'm new to this geneology stuff :-)

Here is the info I have on Margaret Tynedale -
Many believe she was William Tyndale's (the bible translater) sister.

William Tyndale (1494-1536) Biblical translator and martyr; born most probably at North Nibley (15 miles south-west of Gloucester), England, in 1494; died at Vilvoorden (6 miles north-east of Brussels), Belgium, Oct. 6, 1536. Tyndale was descended from an ancient Northumbrian family, went to school at Oxford, and afterward to Magdalen Hall and Cambridge.

The information I have is that Rowland Taylor had a son, Thomas and he had a son, Thomas. This son had a son, John who was the immigrant to America. He was born at Pennington Castle in 1607 and died in Lancaster, Virginia around 1651. Unfortunately, I have pieced this all together off the internet and have no definitive proof.
