Charles,
I am attempting to research my husbands surname. His father "Willaim Timchuck" left the family when he was a young child and no one has seen or heard from him since. My husband, Robert is under the impression he is part indian, however, we think perhaps French Canadian may also be a possibility. He grew up in Roseville, Michigan. Although the spelling of your name is slightly different, the pronunciation is a match.
Would be interested in any information on you "Timchuck" side of the family.

Doreen, I do not know of a William Timchuck. The Tymczuk/Tymchuk/Timchuk surname comes from western Ukraine where it is (apparently) very common. I am descended from one of three brothers who emigrated from the Ukraine and settled in North Dakota, Massachusetts and Canada (originally Saskatchewan and then Ontario provinces).
Sorry that I can't be of more help.

Hi. I don't know if you will get this as you posted awhile ago. My maiden is Timchuck. I am also from Michigan. My father told me that our last name is Slavick (sp?) and was changed from Timchuski (sp?) when they came to this country. I hope that helps.

If your line is descended from Jacob Tymchuk of Billings Co., ND or Fred Timchuck of Lady Lake, Saskatchewan (and other locations in Canada) please reply. We are related.

I am not certain. My husbands father left when he was a young child. He was told he was part American indian, but had no details. We are in Michigan, but find little information available on him. It is such an odd name that it is possible that they are from the same source.

Tymczuk/Tymchuk and various other variants are basically from the western part of the Ukraine (Eastern Galicia - Austro-Hungarian Empire, also know as Halychnya locally). There are some in southeastern Poland, but they originated in the Ukraine). There are a number of Tymczuks/Tymchuks in the prairie provinces of Canada, who, as far as I can tell, are not related to me. There are/were several families in the USA - also unrelated.
I have uncovered no evidence of any Indian relatives (through marriage), so we are most likely unrelated. Good luck in your quest.

I'm the oldest Daughter of William Timchuck. My grandmother was Katherine. She died Feb 3 1964. My father left my mother when I was about 10 yrs old. I don't remember a whole lot. I had a Uncle Johnnie and a cousin Lucky who stayed with my grandmother while he was young and his mother took him. I think to Chicago. My mother maybe knows my fathers other brothers names. I know there was a Andrew and some other children left in Poland. It was wonderful to here all this. Kimberly Armstrong is my niece.
