I am seeking help in locating information about one of my great grandmothers, Frances Tyler. Oral family history has it that Frances married my great grandfather, John DeGraff, in January 1885. While I do not know where they were married, the 1900 Federal Census has the family living in Chicago, Illinois and their oldest child is recorded as having been born in October 1885 in Illinois. The birth certificate of their youngest daughter, Edna May DeGraff, shows Frances as having been born in 1868 in Lone Rock, Wisconsin, a small town in Richland County in the southwestern portion of the State.

I have been unable to locate any documentation of Frances or her family prior to the 1900 Federal Census. Her father may have been born in either New York, Wisconsin or Pennsylvania, according the the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Federal Census reports for John and Frances' family. Those three documents are consistent in stating that her mother was born in Pennsylvania.

Shortly after John died in 1920, Frances went west with her daughter Edna and eventually married a relative (perhaps the father) of Edna's husband William Cooley. Frances is reported to have died in 1956 in Tacoma, Washington.
