Lynne S. Armstrong, 57, Kokomo, a former resident of Covington, died at 4:19 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2006, at her home after a brave battle with brain cancer. She was born in Munich, West Germany, Dec. 14, 1948, the daughter of Wilke and Thelma (Tucker) Tyhurst. Her father died, and from the age of nine she was raised by her mother and step-father Lee Clingan.

Lynne was a 1966 graduate of Covington High School and attended Indiana State University. She had been employed by Delphi since 1979 and retired in 2005 as assistant to the president. She enjoyed her grandchildren, spending time on the beach in Destin, Fla., playing the harp and genealogy research.

Survivors include one son, Chad Armstrong and his wife Jennifer of Indianapolis; one daughter, Shannon Armstrong of Kokomo; two grandchildren, Jackson and Tucker Hill of Kokomo; two brothers, David Clingan of Indianapolis and Greg Clingan and his wife Pam of Covington; step-father, Lee Clingan of Covington; two nieces and one great-niece all of Covington; and friends “Team Savannah of Delphi.” She was preceded in death by her father in 1955 and her mother in 1987.

A celebration of Lynne’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday the First Christian Church, 854 North Malfalfa Road, Sycamore Road and 300 West, Kokomo, with Pastor Will Jewsbury officiating. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Grecu Chapel, 414 West Jefferson, Kokomo, and from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.

In Covington, friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shelby Funeral Home, 622 3rd St. Covington, following there will be a graveside service at 2:15 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Hunter officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nesting Dove’s, 1935 S. Dixon Road, Kokomo, IN 46902.

Her family will greatly miss her sense of humor, her guidance, love and strength of character.
