Hi,
I dont know whether you can help. I have an Ellen L Tyers (b. 1913)who I cant trace any history on. She was apparently born out of wedlock whilst working for the Bowes-Lyons. Any family history would be good to find.

All I know is b. about June 1913 Lambeth, d about 2010 in Middlesex. She kept all her history firmly guarded. Even what the L stood for. Was it Lilian? She married Charles William Wilkinson (1911-2000)in 1939

Many thanks for any help!

Ian

Hi Ian,

From the information you have, you could find the GRO references for Ellen's birth and marriage using FreeBMD and order the relevant certificates. The birth certificate should give you at least her full name and her mother's name. Either certificate might have some information about the father.

Have you thought about the possibility of children? For example the following births in London have Tyers for the mother's maiden name: Jack WA Wilkinson Dec 1942, Hammersmith, vol.1a, page 349 and Brian RE Wilkinson Mar 1947, Hammersmith, vol.5c, page 1546. There is also a Tyers birth in London in 1938 that could be an illegitimate child.

Hope this helps.
Paul

Thank you Paul for your reply.

Fortunately after much searching I had already been passed a little more info on this Ellen Tyers.

She was Ellen Louise Tyers born Apr 24 1913 in Brixton.. Her mum was Emma Louisa Florence Tyers b. Jan 8 1879 in Donisthorpe.

It is the father of Ellen that I have no information on other than he was potentially a Bowes-Lyon.

Emma Louisa was apparently working in the Bowes-Lyon household, as yet i have found no census records as to where Louisa Florence was actually living.

Ellen herself lived with her nan Mary Jane Tyers till she was 10yrs old in Loughborough Rd, Brixton

Thanks for your help Paul.

Regards,

Ian
