TYERS surname Rutland, England
Glad to receive your message. my Tyers line isn't completely proven, but I feel good about it. At first I thought mine came from Uppingham, but believe this is a different line. My first connection is Thomas TYERS born 1824 md Susan Lyon 1848 in Ryhall. His son Charles, my great-grandfather, changed his name to Lyon, and lived with his grandparents who came to Utah. I show another Thomas b. 1788 in Whitwell married Rebecca PELL(I would like to find more on this line also), his father was George b. 1763, in Edith Weston, his father Thomas 1737 Edith Weston; Another Thomas b 1707 also Edith Weston, and his parents were Thomas Anne Ashley md 1707. Let me know about yours.

Thanks for writing. I don't see a connection with our Tyers. My latest Tyers was Thomas, b. 1824 and marr 1848 in Ryhall, Rutland. He had about 12 children between 1848-68. I understand he stayed in England and his wife and first son Charles, my great-grandfather, came to America. Maybe you're a descendent of one of his children? I have a family group sheet of them if you want it. I know some children stayed in the Ryhall area, but some probably moved. My Tyers line goes from here back to about 1700, first to Whitwell, then Edith Weston, Rutland.

Doyle I would love to see you family chart - I've only come across TYERS in Leictershire/Rutland so may be it is a localised surname (?) If it is - there must be a connection somewhere - perhaps if I get back a generation or two. My email is Doo@milliepigs.freeserve.co.ukKaron

My grandmother was Ann Tyers. Her father (also Tyers of course) was a builder residing in Humberstone Road Leicester. I believe his wife's name was Isabella. Sincerely, Kathleen Notman

Hi Doyle,
I am looking into our family history, our Tyers is William Tyers (b. 1828 Rutland England) and emmigrated to Australia on the Shackamaxon in 1853. His wife was Sarah Anne Blades and his father was Edward Tyers. I haven't found any more information yet on Edward Tyers (born about 1800 in England).
There is a book on the Australian Tyers called Where is Amhurst and follows Willam Sarah Tyers ancestors (of which there are many).
Any help on Edward Tyers would be appreciated.

Do you have William Tyers (Abt: 1828 - 1898) or Edward Tyers (Abt 1800) in your list? Edward is as far as I have, and I don't have a spouse for him.

During my music studies I learned that the Tyers family were associated with the famed Vauxhall Gardens in London around the late 1600 early 1700 period. They promoted many of Handels works. There is a lovely story of their entreprenerial skills in promoting a rehersal of the Water Music. I have nor been able to link this line with William Tyers and Anne Blades which I beleive are my ancestors. Please email me - billtyers@one.net.au - if anyone has any luck with this line.
