My great-uncle William Albert Henry had a sister Ruth. They were born in the late 1800s in Union County, MS. Ruth married a Tyer. I don't know his given name. They had two children, Mary Lou born in MS, and Victor born in OK. I don't know what happened to the parents, but my great-uncle and -aunt raised the children.

Does anyone recognize any of these names?

My father was Albert Fernando Tyer. Born in 1907 in TX I think. He later legally changed his name to Albert Patrick Tyre. Maybe no connection but thought you might use this.

Glad you made your find. The message from Donald Tyre was
'warm'. His father and your Victor Tyer are cousins. Carol Tyer Ellis

My father was Lonnie Buford Tyer (b.1919 d.1966) His brother was Joe Henry Tyer (b.1914+/- d.1993) The sister was Sarah (b.1916 d.1995+/-). Sarah married a good fellow named Ben O'Dell and they moved to a place outside of Houston, TX, where they raised thier family of three daughters. The father of the three was Lonnie Buford Tyer (same name as my father), who died 1920 +/-. The last location in early 1900 was a small farm near Poolville, MS due west of New Albany, MS (Union Co.) by about 15 miles.

Sorry about the dates. Can confirm later if needed.

Wish I knew more. I may be able to provide more info later if desired or helpful.

Thanks. Since I posted that query I've found new information. I have the wife of Lonnie Buford Tyre (1889-1919) as Jessie Norma Wells whose father was James Henry Wells. So we have another connection. Her cousin Wesley McCracken Wells married Anna Lou Swain who was a sister of my maternal grandmother Mary Etta Swain.

I had Sarah Norma Tyre married to Ben B. O'Dell, but only one daughter Sarah Jane.

I was born near Poolville, Union Co., MS.

Donald, I am your cousin, Sharon Anne. I remember when you and your wife visited us in Tucson in the 1950s. My father was Leon Harry Tyer, always known as Pat, but known in the family as Little Pat since your father was Big Pat. Is your mother living? Are you in touch with Patrick and Pippa? What about Priscilla? My father died in 1964 and my mother (Marie) died in 1983. I have one son, Brent Allan Ratliff, who will be 43 on March 2. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the end of October 2004, and is finishing his fourth round of chemo, but is holding his own and is in remarkably good spirits. Would love to hear from you and learn about where life has led you and yours.
