TYDINGS in England

Robert TYDINGS was the father of a John TYDINGS baptized in 1582. John had a wife Margaret (not Ann as is commonly given) who was the father of a Richard baptized in 1625.

Whether the above Richard baptized in 1625 is identical to the Richard who was in MD by apparently 1652 is unknown. Also unclear is whether there were one or two generations of Richards in MD. IF the Richard baptized 1625 is the same one in MD, and IF there is only one generation, he would have been in his mid 40s before he started having children.

For further information on the above English TYDINGS see:
Robert W. BARNES, "British Roots of Maryland Famalies," (Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1999) where he lists the above as POSSIBLY being the same as the man in MD. There are also burial records in England which contain additional information which he does not list.

Mr. Sanders, Thank you, I stand corrected, it is a warrant not a patent. You stated that the name of Richard's wife as Charity is from the Quaker records, are these Quaker records at LDS? Are you referring to "A Brashera(s) Family History Vol. 1, The First Wo Hundred Years of Brashears in America" (San Diego, CA: 1998) wherein it lists Richard's wife as Charity Sparrow?

Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation.

I'm not sure where the original of the Quaker Records are, and have not checked whether they have been microfilmed. The West River Monthly Meeting records were published serially in the Bulletin of the Maryland Genealogical Society beginning with Vol. XIV, No. 2. John was stated to be the son of Richard and Charity in his marriage record.

Yes, Charles Brashear in the book you list stated that Richard's wife Charity was a SPARROW. In contacting him by e-mail, he was unable to supply a source for this, and and did not know where he got the information.

Dorothy, I will have to go back and find the will. I''m pretty sure it was mailed to me through snail mail; however, I haven't been doing much genealogy lately. Please feel free to contact me at sandyb@knightsoft.com. Also, do you have an email where I can reach you when I find it? Sandy

I listed the source by Barnes where more information (other siblings) of those men can be found. By examining the church records for those localities involved, there is likely more information (death dates) for those families available.
