Hi James, In researching my Pilkington family tree, I have a 3x great-aunt, Anne Pilkington who married John Tydd in Ennistymon,co Clare, Ireland in 1818. Directories of the time have John Tydd as sub-sherrif of County Clare & Commissioner for taking affidavits. Tydd is not a local Clare name, so I presume John was not from co Clare originally. This couple's eldest son Thomas Tydd died in the cholera epidemic in 1849, as did his sister (name unknown). I am not sure, but I suspect Thomas may have been a doctor. Do you think this links with your Tipperary Tydds at all? Katrina

Hallo Bryan I have also traced my family back to Tipperary to John Tydd and Margaret. My grandfather was John Bruce Tydd married to Sarah Jane Picton. John Bruce Tydds' father was Thomas Edward Tydd. I too have not been able to connect the other 'Tydds' from England India etc etc. My name is Therese Claire Tydd married to Roderick James Porter

I can't help you with your request, but it's interesting that my name is also Kathleen Tydd and am the daughter of Frederick Tydd. For such an unusual surname, this is quite a coincidence! I live in Madison, Wisconsin USA. My grandfather, Frederic Tydd, emigrated to North America in 1910-11 from Appleby, Westmorland.
