Do you have any birth dates for any of your Tyas line?
It is difficult to make matches with only a given name, My Tyas line goes back to the early 17th century in Sklemanthorpe, Yorkshire, and possoibly earlier in the vicinity of Huddersfield.

Hello Charles,

You may have the information by now but just in case, John Tyas b1837 married Annie Ellen b Sheffield 1849. He moved to Conisbrough with his parents Robert and Elizabeth. He lived at 125 Holywell Terrace 1871, 29 Wellington St 1885, 6 Lime Grove 1881, 17 Burcroft Hill 1896.
(His descendants still live on Burcroft Hill I believe) His father Robert was a blacksmith and the illegitimate son of Jane b1784. Jane's father was Thomas b1751 and he was a blacksmith too.

John b1837 has a gravestone in Conisbrough New Cemetery with Annie Ellen and Thomas b1751 has a gravestone at Owston All Saints with his wife Jane b1753.

Regards,

Ray Hoggart

My mother's maiden name was Tyas. She was born on Castle Grove Terrace, Conisbrough in 1919 to James and Annie Tyas. Burcroft Hill is very close by. Sound familiar to anyone?

Hello,

My wife was a Tyas before we married and her family were from Conisbro' originally, almost certainly related to you, maybe going back a few years but related, yes. There are still Tyas descendants in Conisbro', some I believe on Burcroft Hill. We don't do a lot with the tree these days so I don't have details handy but I'll dig something out if you wish. I think you have a relative in Conisbro', Simon Tyas, who has a tree but he differs from the tree we have, we are sure ours is correct but I imagine so does he. The tree is mainly local, the family in general stayed around Doncaster originally probably South Kirby, the earliest we have is circa 1650 in Hooton Pagnall.

Hi Traggoh:

Yes, Simon Tyas is my first cousin; his father Walter and my mother Ivy were brother and sister. Where are you in this world? We are now in the US. What kind of history do you have on Tyases going back to 1650?

Thanks,
Janine

Hello Janine,

I've never put all the tree together so it may take me a while but I'll do it.

We had contact from people in the USA who were descendants of a Tyas who emigrated there 17th cent but they spell it Tyus now.

Will see how I can put the info in a legible form and get it off to you as soon as possible.

Regards

Ray

Hello again Janine,

Done the list, there may be a few bits missing, I'm an invalid and the files are kept in another part of the house. I'll try and attach it to this message.

If it doesn't arrive send me your email address and I'll send it again.

Hi Ray
You or your wife seem to be the local experts on the Tyas family in the Doncaster area. Can I ask if you can help me with my tree? I too come from a Tyas line living in Conisb.
Father & son both Richard Tyas.Father born abt 1756 died 1831, mother Ann(Nanny) b abt 1750 d1835, son b Tickhill 1785 & wife Mary Evritt of Greasboro b1786 d1866 Both men were millwrights & all 4 bur'd in Conisb. I think father Richard may be from Bolton on D(bap1757) who mar'd Mary Whitaker(1776) but who then died before 1785. Maybe Mary Tyas who died Donc St George 1777? & then Richd mar'd possibly Ann Hartley in Wakefield. This is only conjecture. I live in Norfolk & have never visited the Doncaster area altho I've just become a member of D&D FHS. Any lights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul.
