Starting in late 1890s and into the 1940s, a number of Twyman family history enthusiasts wrote letters, collected newspaper clippings, and otherwise took notes on the Twyman family. There were a fair number involved, including Edwin W. Twyman, Samuel Rogers Twyman, John Austin Twyman, Henrietta Galey, Lelia Cowherd Handy, Fred W. Twyman, Julia Twyman Fite, James William Wigginton, and Mary Twyman Klayder. These individuals were aware of one another's work and collaborated.
Some of the materials that were generated during this period are available in publicly accessible collections, including the Austin-Twyman papers, the George Twyman papers, the Mary Twyman Klayder papers (transcribed and published in the "Twyman" book).
After going through all of these collections and more, it is clear to me that there are many, many more materials than what is publicly available. Mary Twyman Klayder must have had much more than what is currently available. Henrietta Galey likewise seems to have donated only a portion of her documents to the University of Virginia.
Does anyone know where some of these materials might be? Especially if you are a descendant of any of the above or their collaborators, perhaps the materials remain in the family somewhere?
