Hi - Josiah came to Australia in 1842, landed in Melbourne. He ended up in Kyneton where he married Margaret Palmer, they owned a Post Office in Langley just out of Kyneton, it must have been on the way to the goldfields in Victoria. I don't know anything about him before he came to Australia, we have some letters that he and his sisters wrote to each other. I don't know why he came to Australia either. Do you have any info? yes. william smith married elizabeth sophia twyford. not sure about date or place. he died in the late 1820's in manchester. elizabeth later married john lindley before 1839, and ended up in cheshire.
she died in 1855, not sure about john.
josiah twyford smith was born on the 20 feb 1824, according to his baptism. he was baptised twice. ellen smith was christened in 1825. and mary smith in 1826.she married james carr in 1848, cheshire.
i've seen the letter's he wrote to his family but not the ones written to him. and i havn't seen any photo's of him or his wife. have you seen or know of any images of josiah?
cheers kyle
