My gggrandfather, Benjamin H. (Hurd?) Twombly (1808-1886), married Asenath Young (1807-1876) in York, ME in 1831. They had 5 children, Frances, Henry, Helen, Mary and Albert. Sorry I don't have the birth date of Albert. Also, I can't go further back in the generations until I find Benjamin's parents.

We have just found a link to the NH Twombleys and would love any information you might have gathered. My GGGGF was George Washington Twombly to George G. to Samuel to Joshua to William (1717) to William (16??) to John (1658) to Ralph (1630). Ralph was born in England and immigrated to NH in 1656. We have a sheet of paper with birth/death info on these grandfathers written by my cousin's grandmother. Can you link to this part of the family?

just reading through now. I find that my great-great grandfather is Albert H. He had several wives it seems. I count four as I research. One was the mother of my great great-grandmother, Lizzie. It gets real fuzzy when he was married to which woman but I think my great great grandmother was the last wife. Their daughter, Clara was my great grandmother. And as I search the census, Lizzie disappears and he appears living with his brother, sister-in-law and his children (Clara, George and Forest). I cannot make the connection between him and the original Twomblys in the area although I am sure there is one, it just gets lost. We all grew up in Dover and my mother knows where several of the Twombly cemeteries are. Have you had any luck?
