Gainesville, Ga. - May 2 - Curtis Twitty died today from injuries inflicted upon him in a fight with John Tucker Dorsey on Sunday morning. He remained unconscious until his death. Dorsey is said to be suffering from severe injuries received in the fight, it being reported that his left jaw bone is broken. He has not yet been arrested. Both young men were prominent members of the community and belonged to two of its best families.

Chicago, July 20 - Walter G. Twitty, 78, oldest member of the Chicago board of trade, died of a heart attack yesterday. He had the reputation of having handled more transactions than any man on the exchange.

Looking for any information on Mattie Twitty. Mattie was born abt 1848 in TN. Married James M. Coolidge in Pulaski, Illinois, 1865. They then moved to Iowa, Kansas, and finally Washington State. Mattie died 20 Oct 1924 in Chehalis, WA. If anyone can connect me to the parents of Mattie that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dolly Esther Walton, 92, entered eternal rest Sunday, April 29, 2012.

Born December 10, 1919 In Union Mills, North Carolina.(Rutherford County)
Retired as a private duty registered nurse for over 35 years.
Preceded in death by her husband Thomas Sr., parents Rufus and Annie Twitty, two brothers and four sisters.

Survived by three children, Adara, Gail (Ikie' D.) Lively and Thomas (Sharon) Walton Jr., two sisters, Hortense Henderson and Mattie Twitty, sister-in-law, Essie Twitty; four grandchildren, Princess, TaiShawn, Brittainy and Kaira; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives.

Celebration of Life service 12Noon Monday, May 7, 2012 at Mt. Vernon A.M.E. Church, 1127 Mt. Vernon Ave. Columbus, Ohio with Rev. Dr. William S. Wheatley officiating.

Family will receive friends 11 a.m. until time of service.

Interment Union Hill A.M.E. Zion Church, Union Mills, North Carolina.

My grandfather was Barney Rufus Twitty 1919-1994. Mothers name was Tincey. He married Geneva Nall 1922-1987. They were from AL, but moved to MO. Where do the Twitty's come from originally and what does the Twitty coat of arms look like? Anyone that could help, I would appreciate it. It is very hard to find any information on the Twitty roots.

I am the granddaughter of Oliver Perry Twitty and Corneila Florence Andrews. Your history sounds correct from what I know. Oliver Perry Twitty and Corneila Florence Andrews lived in Ava, MO after their marriage. Cornelia came from TN. They had six children - Martha, Celia, Russell, Oliver, Arthur, and Geneva Fay Twitty. I am the daughter of Geneva Fay Twitty and George Johnson. Arthur Twitty died in 1910 after he was shot in the leg. Geneva Fay Twitty was born on May 3, 1906 in Ava, MO and died in 1999 in St Louis, MO. Hope this is helpful.

If these are one and the same Russell Twitty and William Twitty living next door to each other on 1830 Merrimac, Jefferson Co., MO. William has a male about the same age as Russell living in the household on the Newton Co., Mo. census. IF it is the same family you will find Russell Twitty in Rutherford Co., NC

Hello, The Mills' are in my husband's line. I would like varification of my research. Russell Twitty or William Twitty are not on the 1820 NC census but assuming they were on the 1830 Merrimac, Jefferson Co., MO and then possibly Russell living with William Twitty on the 1840 Newton Co, Mo. I am trying to establish proof of relationship of Milly Mills that married Richard Yielding to the Mills of Rutherford Co, NC. Milly and Richard Yielding mar in Rutherford Co., NC.

Hi, Mark:

The Twittys seemed to have known about three first names for men: John, Thomas and William. It does get to be confusing.

The general consensus is that the Thomas you are referring to is undoubtedly Capt. William's uncle, and that Capt. William's father was John (wife supposedly Mary), the aforementioned Thomas's brother. John and Thomas's parents were was Thomas Twitty and Anne Price (d/o of Arthur Price). There may have been more Twittys in the first and second generation, and some of us are pretty certain that Capt. William had brothers BUT there is no definitive proof of this just some tantilizing circumstantial evidence.

We're still trying to unravel these people, but the going is slow.

Frank L. Twitty is the name of my long lost father, seperated from me at my birth in 1962. Bronx, New York. Frank was born in Rutherfordton, NC. around 1908. He died around 1981 or so, I believe. My mother's name, then, was Carolyn Beryl McGuire Twitty.
My Mother has dementia so she is no longer much help with the details of my search. I'm afraid she has not much time remaining here on the earth. As I have no known brothers or sisters, I am trying to track down Frank's family incase I may have any half siblings. Any help you might provide would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me with any match.

I am working on a geneology tree for my husband on Ancestry.com,Francis Warren Twitty Family Tree. The Thomas Twitty (the first recorded Twitty in America)you mentioned in your message is my husband's ancestor. He did marry Mary Wynne from England. Another great grandfather in that line is Peter Wynne. It goes on down to Peter Wynne Twitty, my husband's great, great great grandfather. We got this information in a book in our local libary in Lancaster, S. C. It was researched and written by a Gregory from the Lancaster\Kershaw area. This Gregory also has roots with this same family tree and all the information is in that book. It is in the Geneology room in the libary. My husband's name is Francis Warren Twitty of Lancaster, S, C. The information on page 27 of that book states that this Thomas Twitty gave property to his 4 sons, Peter, George, John and Thomas. The son, John Twitty was appointed as administrator of his estates but died later and a John Hawkins was named. Thomas Twitty jr married Mary Clark and they had a son named William, There was a Twit ty Bible which was later owned by a grandson of William Twitty. On page 25 there is mention of this William Twitty, son of John and grandson of Thomas of New Kent, the one you mention in your message was THE William Twitty of Rutherford County of N. C. who was killed by Indiams in Kentucky in 1775 when on an expidition with Daniel Boone. Hope this helps.

the Jinsey who married George Twitty was the daughter of a John Partin. John died in Wilkes Co. GA in Aug. 1793. There was a court case in TN that John Partin, Jr. had, John Prton and others vs. Hardy Hightower and others filed Giles Co. TN May 7, 1818. It was over the sale of slaves. It went all the way to the Supreme Court. The files give that John Partin, Sr. had a wife Sally at the time of his death so I assume that she was the mother of Jinsey.

I am the granddaughter of Bishop and Rebecca Twitty. My mother was one of their daughters; Catherine Rebecca Twitty. They lived in Forest City, NC which is in Rutherfordton Coounty. I am also trying to find my relatives. There are some Twitty's that are very close relatives still living in Rutherfordton County. Maybe we can exchange some information and compare for possible ancestry.

DoD Identifies Marine Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Lance Cpl. Bobby L. Twitty, 20, of Bedias, Texas, died July 22 from a non-hostile vehicle accident in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 6, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

she supposely took care of eliz and samuel till they passed away

I am an African American Twitty. My great great grandfather was a man named Haywood Twitty. My great great grandmother was Emma Washburn. They are both of North Carolina, but our family now resides in South Carolina, any help would be appreciated.
