Hi to all the Twidle's out there,I have a significant Twidle history on Brothers Keeper but once I get back to the British beginning of the tree I reach a halt.
I would like to hear from any Twidle's that are in Britian that can help. I have estabolished that there are no connections with the NZ Twidle.s.

Forgot to mention that I am in Australia

I have information about Twidle family in East Yorkshire and what now is called Cleveland (N. Yorkshire) My maiden name was Twidle, we have Alan & Peter in Canada, cousins of mine on my fathers side, whose only son carries on the name of Twidle in that country. My father was Harry Twidle and I have a photo of all my great grandparents and their 10 children, who came from Hull in East Yorkshire. If you want further information send me some kind of family tree and I will endeavour to help. Ther could be a connection especially with all the males on the photo. Did you know that our name originated from the Border country in Tweed Dale from the River Tweed on the Scottish borders? My age is 54 by the way.

Your family didn't happen to migrate from Hull in East Yorkshire to Norfolk did they? That's where we came from my great grandfather had 10 children in Hull, all Twidle, and I have a photo I just wondered if you might happen to be an offspring? Did you know the name orginated from the Scottish Borders Tweed Dale? So Im led to believe.

Good Luck

Hi Lin
I'm searching for a family thread. My Grandmother x3 was Sarah Jane Twidle, born Drypool, Hull 1829. From the IGI records I know her parents were Jane (probably nee Martin) and Emanuel.

Any connection?
Cheryl

Hello Cheryl

Thanks for asking. Much of our family comes from Hull. I have a photo of my great grandparents and their ten children taken in a street in Hull. There is a possibility that your grandfather had brothers and my grandfather was one of them. I have no idea the name of my great grandmother, I think my great grandfather was Arthur - Not sure. Unfortunately much of my furniture is in storage due to having my kitchen and lounge refurbished, so all my ancestry books are with the furniture storage company. So I cannot check until it all comes back at the end of March. I do have some information so if you would like to contact me again to remind me I can do this for you without a problem. I think we will be related. I can give you an update so far. My age is 59.

My father was Harry Twidle and he had two brothers, Peter and Bill and two sisters, Mary and Elisabeth (Betty) all living in North Yorkshire, from about 1915.

My cousin is Peter Twidle(son of Bill) who now lives in Canada since he was a child. All Aunts and Uncles are now deceased except Betty who is 94 and lives in Saltburn.

My grandfather was Fred Twidle. There was one relative in the Hull area who was Canon in the church.Arthur Twidle. I have forgotton and need to look all this up when my stuff comes back. So apologies for that.

The name Elisabeth Marshall rings a bell for my great grandmother, I shall have to ask my cousin who lives in Hornsea.

Good luck, get back to me soon.

Lin

Hi Lin

Thanks for replying.
All I know is what I have told you other than Sarah Jane Twidle married John Mason (1850) and they had 2 sons Joseph 1852c (my GtGt Grandfather) and John 1854c. On 1851 census Sarah is living with new husband John and her grandmother Sarah Martin in Kingston upon Hull. On the 1861 Sarah is found widowed and living with her sons in Poplar, London.

I can't find siblings for Sarah Jane or her parents on the censuses, it's all a bit of a mystery as this ancestry lark so often is.

Sorry can't tell you anymore.
