twidle and twidale were interchangable back in the 1800,s. my twidle conections had both names and also gonig back i came up with twydele as well. it was all down to the clerk writing the name, as the name owner didnt write. also comeing forward to today we have in our tree twidle and twydle as the spelling. from lorraine new zealand twidles

I came across this site while searching my Grandfathers name Twidale. I am from UK and finding very little information on any web sites. I'd love to hear from any Twidales or any other information any would be willing to supply.

Hi! I too am trying to find out something about my Twidale branch. My great grandfather was Joseph Watkinson Twidale who married Anne Maria Heald ion 5 Nov. 1878. Her parents were Thomas Heald & Elizabeth (?). Joseph & Anne had 4 children, Ernest (b.1889) was my grandfather who married Rachel Brough. They too had 4 children, Derrick, Vivian. Dorothy & Evelyn. Viv is my father and I was born in 1949, the only child. Do we have any connections??

well i havent seen a joseph watkinson twidale in any of my research so far, angela. but then my grt grt granfather had lots of siblings that i havent tracked so who knows. it seems luck of the draw as to the spelling of the twidle / twidale name, depends on the parish clerk of the day, we even today here in new zealand have two spellings in our family, twidle and twydle . happy hunting, have you been to the lincoln archives, they are grt, need lots of days weeks etc there though, i have been twice. cheers lorrie

Hi, Just came across your post from Oct 2004. Do you have the birth dates for Elizabeth, John & William? These are the only 3 I have of this generation but if they are the ones I think I can take the line back to 1725 to connect with my branch. If you're still interested please get in touch
