Joseph Twiddy 1764

Surnames: Twiddy, Tweedy
I have traced my mothers family line down to Joseph Twiddy born 1764 in Norfolk and married to Elizabeth Wright. So far I have hit a block tracing the line any further. They had two sons James born 1793, Sudbury, Suffolk, England and Joseph born 1795 Barton Parva (now Barton Mills) Suffolk, England. Joesph snr died 1851 in St Georges Workhouse, Hanover Sq Westminster, Middlesex, England.

I would be interested to know if anyone has managed to go back any further.

Thanks

David

I am descendant of this Joseph Twiddy born c.1764 via son Joseph born c.1797 Barton Mills.
I haven't got much further back just indication they could be from Attleborough Norfolk. i.e. an Elizabeth Twiddy died/buried in Snailwell 18 Jan 1832 aged 109 from Attleborough and lived at the Water Mill Snailwell (mother?).
I have my info at RootsWeb. Link to Joseph Twiddy born c.1764 entry.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your response. You wouldn't be Pete Yates by any chance as I have seen your name come up on numerous rootsweb posts?

I may have traced the family back to the 1650's to a John Twiddy who lived in or near Norwich. It has taken a lot of cross referencing and there are a couple of circumstantial links I need to corroborate. So I need to go to the record offices in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. I would really welcome comparing notes and hopefully we can crack this. I manged to trace the other side of the family back to 1470 so really want to do the same this side.

my email address is david@cancommunicate.com if you would like to contact me direct.

I look forward to hearing from you.

David
