Hi

Is there anyone familiar with info for Tully A Twiddy Sr born 1809 possibly in Perquimans NC, died 1 Mar 1902 in Norfolk, VA. He migrated to Princess Anne Co. VA. His son, Tully Jr born 8 Mar 1860 in Princess Anne Co. VA, was a blacksmith and eventually moved to Tanners Creek, Norfolk Co. and became a salesman, clerk, and then a grocer in Norfolk City.

I have been able to trace back from Bruce E Twiddy a ggg-grandson of Tully Sr and an extended family member, with few problems, but I have problems with Tully SR aka Dr. Tully Twiddy(?). I have not verified a "Dr" with a daughter Georgianna Tully with the exception of unsourced trees scattered on the net.

His 4 or 5 wives or relationships are the other problems. The first historical record I have of Tully SR is his 1840 Perquimen Co. census listing. Then a record of a marriage to Elizabeth Raper/Roper in 1847. She must be his second wife. The 1850 census shows him still in Perquimen Co. with either a sister or wife named Nancy, with children William age 14 and Elizabeth age 12, living in the household of a James Hathaway.

The 1860 shows him in Virginia with spouse Ann A aka Dinah Abegail Stokes and 4 children Miles, Elenora, Georgianna. The last child is Tully JR born 8 May 1860.

1880 Ann is still the spouse with the last two children Georgianna and Tully Jr around.

Tully SR is not listed in the 1900 Census anywhere or after. There is a Death Index record online, at the Library of VA, for an Ann A Twiddy died 2 Mar 1875 in Princess Anne Co. Virginia. If this is Dinah Abegail Stokes, I have her DOD as 15 Dec 1874.

Funny how only 2 Tully Twiddy/Tweedy/Twittys are found in the USA and they are Tully A Sr & Jr.

Various members of the family are buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Tully Sr, Jr and others members are buried in Elmwood & Cedar Grove cemetery. Both are in Norfolk, Virginia.

Any info will be appreaciated.

I am also researching Twiddys from the Norfolk, VA area. My grandmother is Elsie Twiddy, and she had a sister Mary Lee and a brother William Frank.
however, there were many children that their parents, Roy Lee Sr and Lillian Watson, gave birth to which were either given away or killed at birth because they couldn't afford them and Lillian was a little on the crazy side. This could be the "missing" bits that we're both looking for, and sadly there's no real record. I have family buried in Forest Lawn and Riverside Magnolia in Norfolk, who are Twiddys. There are a LOT of Twiddys in Forest Lawn (on Granby), and I've gotten pictures of many of them. I live in Norfolk, so I've been trying to connect what seems like two separate Twiddy branches *coincidentally* enough in the same city at the same time.
Aunt Mary Lee (my grandmother's sister) lived in Aylett, NC for a long time - she was a postmistress there.
