I am also looking for the connection back to England. When I went to Ireland, The Historical Research Ctr. gave me information that there were Twibells back in the17th century in Yorkshire England. They spelled their names Twibill, Twybell and Bell. In my info. from here it did say that John's father was in the English military. A lot or most of the birth records in Ireland were destroyed, and there is conflictiing information as to where he was born either Monahan county or Cork. I am looking for the same ancestor.

Hi there,
you may not be looking anymore but I might be ale to help with the yorkshire Twibills....if you are still interested. My father, John William Twibill, immigrated to Canada in 1964. His parents(George William Twibill and Winnifred Tempest) and family were from yorkshire. We have a family bible that lists births and deaths that date back to the 1700's I can dig up if you are still looking.
