I received an email last night from an Andrew Loudon, a retired journalist, asking if I had any details of anyone who would know about Charles Francis Tweedy. Charles is listed in the pedigree of Tweedy of Cornwall (
www.tweedy.org.uk) on my website - hence the enquiry.
Charles was a Lieutenant in the 5th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers and was killed in 1917 a couple of months short of his 20th birthday. He is commemorated at the Tyne Cot Memorial. (
http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=82...). It would appear that a body of an officer of the Lancashire Fusiliers has been discovered. I understand that there is the possibility that he is Charles Tweedy but without conclusive proof he is likely to be buried early next month as an "Unknown Officer".
I realise it is an extremely long shot, but does anyone know anyone or anything about or connected with Charles Francis Tweedy?
Yours aye
